  7. Abstract:
  8. Influences of dynmic interaction between substation equipment on responses and fragility are studied. Proposing a framework for seismic risk analysis of substation equipment using reliability and endurance time methods is another aim of this project. Risk, in this contex, means the probability of exceeding monetary loss. Three dimensional models of four vulnerable types of equipment including surge arrester, current transformer, circuit breaker and disconnect switch are developed and verified. Six different systems of equipment connected through rigid bus bars comprising of two, three and four equipment are considered. Fragility curves are developed for equipment in both unconnected and connected conditions. Comparison between fragility curves revealed importance of considering interaction effects for vulnerability evaluations. Considering more than two-connected equipment and using three dimensional models are novelties of this study. In order to incorporate endurance time method in reliability-based risk analysis methods, distribution of responses given intensity has been developed. Two sources of uncertainity including record-to-rocord and modeling uncertainity has been quantified. Generated distibutions has been utilized as a probabilistic model in reliability-based risk analysis. It is concluded that propsed method considerably reduces computational efforts but conservatively overestimates losses
