- Abstract:
- Heat losses and pump electrical energy consumption are inevitable during the operation of a district heating(DH) network. Therefore, the appropriate design and operating strategy of a DH network is required in order to reduce the heat losses and pump energy consumption. This study is aimed at optimizing pipe diameters and mass flow rate in a DH network according to heat demand of the building in order to minimizing operating cost of the network. For this purpose first drawings of the building is modeled in Auto Cad software. Then according to the position of building to the sun, the building is modeled in Desighn Builder software. In this software the buildings charactersitics like materials which is used to construct it, shape of the building, it’s orientation against the sun and also activity of households are applied. The results of this software is used in further study. In the next step according to heat load which is resulted from previous section and an specific temperature difference for each cluster of consumers, flow rate which can supply the heat demand is obtained and according to physical features of the DH network and hydrolic and heat transfer equations of study, heat losse and pressure loss is calculated. In the end based on this formulation and change in diameters of the pipes, different parameter effect on operating cost of the system is evaluated and best pipe diameter for each pipe is calculated accordingly
