  7. Abstract:
  8. It is important to provide an appropriate and economically method with technical and engineering considerations to stabilize excavated underground spaces. The necessity of this, especially for the construction of underground metro stations located in the cities which faces many problems, is more evident. In this research, it has been tried to introduce an optimal method according to the type of area for the construction of the underground station. In order to obtain stress and strain condition in structural elements and surface deformations due to different stages of excavating, numerical modeling in FLAC3D has been used. By examining the parameters that affect the sustainability of this underground excavation, general ideas can be obtained for the stability and control of the same underground excavations that will be implemented in the future. After numerical modeling and design of the station by two methods of concrete arch pre-supporting system (CAPS) and new Austrian tunneling method (NATM), the optimal method has been introduced technically and economically as the chosen method for construction of the Keshavarz station. According to the cost estimation performed at the end of this research, it has been determined that the method of concrete arch pre-supporting system is the best way to construct the Keshavarz station. Also it has been proved that the method of concrete arch pre-supporting system is preferred technically in comparison with the method of new Austrian tunneling method
