- Abstract:
- In recent years, a new architecture named Information-Centric Networks has been proposed to change the current host-centric internet model to a content-centric one. One of the key components of these networks is the ability to store content in the ubiquitous caches of network routers. By caching content in routers, network performance can be improved via delivering content from routers closer to users. In these networks, content can be cached in all the routers of the path. This approach will impose a lot of redundancy on the network and also increases the number of replacements of the routers’ caches. So finding a suitable place for caching content that will improve performance from network and user aspects simultaneously is of great importance. In this research, an approach is suggested to discover a place for caching content with the aim of improving network performance and decreasing user experienced delay. For this purpose, we use a method based on graph centrality and try to find the most centralized node in the network. A centralized node will be more accessible from other nodes of the network, and therefore by caching content in these nodes, more requests can be satisfied. With this approach, contents are not replicated in every node of the network, and that will lead to a higher hit rate and a decrease in content redundancy. On the other hand, by doing so, the workload of the router increases and as we are using only a subset of network nodes, other nodes will be useless, and the contents in the centralized nodes keep being replaced. As a matter of fact, we try to distribute the load of the network and find a place for caching that is centralized regarding the load of the routers
