- Abstract:
- The main purpose of this research is analyzing the energy stream of clean food production by using Iran's power plants sourced waste heat. In order to achieve this goal, at first, greenhouse heating demand model according to the type of crops and geographic location of greenhouse, heat transport from power plant to greenhouse model, and heat exchanger model is presented. Then, the potential of constructing clean greenhouse around power plants has been evaluated by using the concept of industrial symbiosis and by integrating greenhouse energy demand, waste heat transport, and heat exchanger models into industrial symbiosis concept framework and also by economical and geographical assessments. In the fallowing, some of key results of this research has been presented. In greenhouse energy demand modeling section, the results shows that the demand for natural gas to heat 1 hectare of tomato greenhouse located around Shahid Montazeri and Shahid Rajaei power plants is equal to 406 and 468 thousand cubic meters, respectively. In waste heat transport modeling section, the results shows that in the base mode (1 km distance between power plant and greenhouse and 1 hectare greenhouse area) and for utilization from waste heat of stack and condenser by using Pre-insulated and HDPE pipes for transportation, the cost per unit of heat transported is in the range of 0.33 to 1.05 cent per kWh, pump consumption power is in the range of 5.81 to 21.13 kW, and heat loss due to transportation is in the range of 17.94 to 156.93 kW.In heat exchanger modeling section, the results shows that in the base mode, the heat exchanger cost per unit of heat is about 0.2 Cent per kWh and heat exchanger cross area is in the range of 826.04 to 840.73 square meters. In geographical assessment section, the results shows that the area of suitable lands to construct greenhouses around Shahid Montazeri and Shahid Rajaei power plants in radii in range 1 to 5 kilometers, is in the range of 0 to 689.19 and 166.1 to 4614.21hectares, respectively. In economic assessment section, results shows that by creating industrial symbiosis in the base mode and by changing the discount rate, the payback period time is in the range of 2.2 to 18 years. In integrated model section, the results shows that by adopting the industrial symbiosis concept between power plant and greenhouse, heating demand of 150.7 hectares of greenhouses can be supplied by the condensers waste heat of Shahid Montazeri steam units and also heating demand of 25.8 hectares of greenhouses can be supplied by the stack waste heat of Shahid Rajaei combined cycle units
