  7. Abstract:
  8. The increasing advancement of computed tomography (CT) systems has led to the recognition of this type of imaging as an accurate and reliable method in diagnosing and assessing damage to humans and materials. Adding dual energy imaging to these systems can increase the material's ability to differentiate in this system and provide higher contrast than usual. Recently, a medical imaging technique has been introduced that uses an X-ray tube and two detector layers on top of each other, each layer absorbing a different energy spectrum.dual layer computed tomography system has been introduced today as a suitable tool for evaluating and diagnosing many diseases, due to the reliability and reproducibility of images, the short time required for imaging, reducing the dose to the patient, the appropriate contrast. , Is the appropriate temporal and spatial resolution and the ability to process multiple afterwards. The purpose of this study is to simulate and dosimetry the single and dual layer computed tomography and optimize the dual layer system to achieve the minimum dose to the patient. For this purpose, the computed tomography systems were simulated using GATE software. The results showed that the use of dual layer computed tomography improved the CNR by 27.38% compared to the existing monolithic mode, at the same voltage and dose. Also, in the case of using two detector layers, at the same CNR, the dose on the phantom was reduced by 16.23% compared to the monolithic state Finally, the results of the study were optimized by a multi-objective genetic algorithm to minimize the dose and maximize the CNR at different voltages so that the optimal voltage can be selected according to the patient's characteristics and imaging conditions
