  8. In this study, the behavior of box column subjected to constant axial load with cyclic lateral force have been investigated by Finite Element method. The resulf of FE anslysis are in a good agreement with experimental result in predicting of behavior and performance of box column. In order to investigation of behavior uses of some performance indices such as axial shortening, over strength, plastic hinge length, out of plane deformation and rotation capacity. The effect of significant parameter such as axial force to yield strength ratio, flange whidth to thickness ratio of flange, web whith to thickness ratio of web, global slenderness ratio and loading protocol on performance indices have been evaluated. Two imperitical expression has been provided to evaluate column axial shortening and plastic hing length with respect to effective parameter on column behavior. calculated plastic rotation angle a has been compared with the value presented in non linear ASCE/SEI 41-17 and observed that the formula presented by ASCE/SEI 41-17 conservatively predicted plastic rotation angle a. local buckling as effective factor on box column behavior has been investigated. Delaying the onset of local buckling has advantages such as deferring strain rise and fracture. The effect of local buckling on fracture has been evaluated by usig of Cyclic void growth model that estimstes occurance of fracture. In generally, after local buckling, the plastic strain grew at a higher rate and strain rise is clear that causes the plastic strain at the corners increased at a high rate and localization of deformation.
