  7. Abstract:
  8. Alzheimer's disease is the most common type of dementia, which has been recognized as the seventh most common fatal disease in the elderly over 65 years of age. Despite all the research done to recognize and treat this disease, so far there is no cure for this disease, and even most of the chemical treatments that are prescribed for Alzheimer's patients are only effective towards reducing the symptoms of this disease and lose their effectiveness as it progresses. Therefore, in the last two decades, in order to find a way to better understand and even treat AD, scientists have reached a concept called brain frequency stimulation, which can improve people's cognitive performance without the need for drug treatment and partially prevent the progression of the disease. In this research, with the help of the information gathered from the EEG signal obtained from the auditory stimulation of Alzheimer's patients and healthy volunteers, we investigated the effect of brain entrainment on the parameters of phase-amplitude coupling, which is known as an index for measuring memory performance in previous studies. We have discussed how brain entrainment at 40 Hz frequency can have a significant effect on phase-amplitude coupling parameters in different parts of the brain. Also, according to our results, it can be said that there is a direct relationship between the amount of brain entrainment in the gamma band and the power of the theta band. Finally, we have investigated the effect of auditory brain training at 40 Hz frequency on the Imaginary part of coherence, which is known as one of the most common parameters for examining the brain's functional connectivity, and we have found that 40 Hz entrainment increases the IPC parameter and, as a result, it can improve the brain's functional connectivity
