  7. Abstract:
  8. Construction is a key industry with significant impacts on the country’s economy. This industry, however, suffers from high rework, increased cost, prolonged delay, and decreased quality. The invention of building information modeling (BIM) in recent decades has opened new windows for improving performance in this industry. The complexity involved in this novel technology requires a tailored execution plan for its successful implementation in construction projects in Iran. Here, the development of properly prepared operational BIM implementation guidelines plays an important role. These operational guidelines, however, still are missing for construction projects in the country. To address the gap, this research aims to develop operational guidelines required for the successful implementation of BIM projects in the country. An organization in charge of hundreds of building construction projects in a year is selected as the collaborative organization in the research to investigate the impact of the fact that the organization's processes implement based on BIM's instructions and BIM be placed as a part of the organization's processes, and finally implement the prepared framework For one of the applications of BIM, clash detection and removal process. In this research, the efforts made to recognize and analyze the organization are reported and the proposed guideline for this organization is offered. The results show that with a detailed and step-by-step review, many problems in the processes can be solved using BIM. For this, it is necessary to analyze the existing procedures and place BIM during the processes so that the processes are updated based on BIM and implemented in a principled way. The efforts made and tools adopted in this research for the preparation of the BIM operational guideline can be a model for other organizations in charge of construction projects. It is hoped that the implementation of the guidelines will reduce clashes in the projects of this executive organization, also will help to develop the culture of using BIM and improve the implementation of ongoing projects in this organization
