- Abstract:
- In the present work, the local Chemiluminescence method has been implemented on a laminar premixed propane-air flame. The goal of this work is to achieve a system capable of measuring the intensity of Chemiluminescent radiations of CH* and OH* radicals locally and with high spatial and temporal accuracy. For this purpose, a setup has been designed and developed. In order to achieve high spatial accuracy for local measurements, a Cassegrain lens has been designed and built, which has the ability to collect light from a cylindrical control volume with a cross-sectional diameter of 58 μm and a depth of 3.4 mm. An optical system for dividing and filtering light based on wavelength has also been designed and built to separate light with a wavelength corresponding to the wavelength of the investigated radicals. To detect the light, photomultiplier tubes have been used, which has a fast time response, and the sampling rate in this setup is 500 kilo samples per second. The outputs obtained from the experiment, which are voltage pulses with negative amplitude, have been analyzed by developing a code and two types of filters based on frequency have been applied to them, and the noises of the results have been removed in this way. By using the developed setup, the relationship between the Chemiluminescent radiation intensities of OH*/CH* radicals and the equivalence ratio has been investigated totally and locally. And the results showed the inverse relationship between the ratio of these Chemiluminescent radiations and the equivalence ratio. According to the calibration curve for propane fuel, by obtaining these results, the performance of the developed system has been validated. Also, the concentration distribution of OH* and CH* radicals along a line at a certain height of the flame has been obtained and the results of this section has been validated through comparison with the conducted researches and reactor modeling in the Ansys Chemkin software environment
