, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hosseini, Anahita Sadat (Author) ; Bakhshi, Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The process of implementing a damage detection strategy for aerospace, civil and mechanical engineering infrastructure is referred to as Structural Health Monitoring (SHM). Many portions of our technical infrastructure are approaching or exceeding their initial design life. As a result of economic issues, these civil, mechanical and aerospace structures are being used in spite of aging and the associated damage accumulation. Therefore, the ability to monitor the health of these structures is becoming increasingly important. In many cases, damage causes a structure that initially behaves in a predominantly linear manner to exhibit nonlinear response when subject to its operating environment....

    Abstract
The performance of a polymeric membrane in an ultrafiltration system under the chosen optimum conditions was studied. To achieve this, four real produced waters were dealt with. To find the optimum conditions, Taguchi method was applied. Results showed that PAN350 membrane is a potential candidate for industrial applications for three feeds which contained oil and total organic carbon (TOC) less than 1,500 and 300 ppm, respectively. The values of oil/grease, total suspended solids, and turbidity rejections were approximately 100%. Although TOC could not be entirely removed, the removal values for TOC were acceptable in this study. For the fourth feed due to the values of oil and TOC which...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Alaei, Yasaman (Author) ; Bagheri, Reza (Supervisor) ; Seyed Reyhani, Morteza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Polycarbonate (PC) is known as one of the engineering plastics with remarkable mechanical properties, but the application of this polymer is limited due to its high notch sensitivity. Blending polycarbonate with other polymers such as acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) is a method to resolve this disadvantage. PC/ABS blends are commonly used in automotive industry, electrical and electronic devices. As PC and ABS are not completely miscible, a variety of compatibilizers are used to achieve a suitable microstructure and high engineering properties. Considering crucial applications of PC/ABS blends, different flame retardants are also used to reduce the flammability. These flame retardants...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology keshavarzi, Mostafa (Author) ; Nemati, Ali (Supervisor) ; Seyyed Reyhani, Morteza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Today, base lead piezoelectrics are the center of attention due to their very good electrical properties, and low cost of production. Among these ceramics are PZT which is a combination of Pb(ZrxTi1-x)O3 and PCN which is a combination of Pb(CoxNb1-x)O3. PZT is a normal piezoelectric whose dielectric properties would be improved if relaxor is added. PCN is ferroelectric with perovskite structure and curie temperature -27℃ which is known as a relaxor with high constant dielectric properties. In this research, adding PCN to PZT was done by sol-gel seeding method. Calcination at a temperature of 900℃ was causing the creation of single-phase perovskite powder. After that, conventional sintering...

    Abstract
Hydrogen storage capacities of raw, oxidized, purified and Fe-doped multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were studied by electrochemical method. Based on transmission electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopic data, thermal oxidation removed defective graphite shells at the outer walls of MWCNTs. The analysis results indicated that the acid treatment dissolved most of the catalysts and opened some tips of the MWCNTs. Thermal gravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry results illustrated that by oxidation and purification of MWCNTs, the weight loss peak shifts toward a higher temperature. N2 adsorption isotherms of the purified and oxidized MWCNTs showed an increase in N2...

    Abstract
The effects of various ratios of Fe/Ni/MgO and growth temperatures on yield, diameter and quality of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were studied. Thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) confirmed that the MWCNT yield depends on Fe/Ni ratio with the following order; Fe0.5 Ni0.5 > Fe > Fe0.75 Ni0.25 > Fe0.25 Ni0.75 > Ni. The results indicated that there is an optimum temperature (940 °C) for the MWCNT growth both from quality and quantity (yield) aspects as compared to other temperatures. Moreover, the changes on Fe/Ni to MgO ratio for the MWCNT growth revealed that Fe/Ni/MgO with the ratio of 17.5/17.5/65 had the highest quality and surface area as compared to the other ratios. The...
