  7. Abstract:
  8. This research investigates and optimizes solvent extraction parameters for separat1ing thorium from the leach solution of the uranium-bearing ore at the ChahGaz mine. The study is applied research aimed at achieving technical knowledge of thorium extraction and purification from thorium-bearing ore through hydrometallurgical processes to obtain thorium concentrate and provide laboratory and semi-industrial flotation. The results obtained from this project lead to the production of thorium concentrate, which can later be utilized in industrial-scale applications. In this project, the influential parameters in the solvent extraction process were simultaneously examined through experimental design. Based on the optimization results, the thorium extraction efficiency reached 99% under optimum conditions: leach liquor pH of 0.6, a 2-minute extraction time, an organic-to-aqueous phase ratio (O/A) of 1/2 with 16% D2EHPA concentration in kerosene. In the stripping process, with an 88% selectivity, the optimum conditions were achieved with a 3:30 minute duration, an aqueous-to-organic phase ratio (A/O) of 2/1, and a sulfuric acid concentration of 3.5 molar (98% H2SO4) in a batch operation
