- Abstract:
- Studying the failure mechanics of FGM materials is inevitable due to the increasing use of these materials in various industries. Stress intensity factor and integral-J are important parameters in fracture mechanics. Due to the fragile nature of ceramic components in FGM During the processing of these types of composite materials, cracks are encouraged. Therefore, crack analysis is inevitable in optimizing the design, reliability and durability of FGM materials and structures in innovative engineering applications. In this research, transverse crack growth in beams made of FGM materials has been investigated. First, a MATLAB code was prepared to extract the mechanical properties of these materials, which are obtained from the Radi relation. This process was repeated for different revolvers in which the amounts of zirconia ceramic and aluminum metal are different. Next, the two-dimensional modeling and analysis of these beams during the application of thermal stress was discussed in Abaqus finite element software UDSFLD subprogram was used to perform this modeling and create cracks. The values of stress, displacement and integral-J for these beams were compared with each other. At the end, according to the results of the amount of stresses and the way of crack growth in different beams, suggestions for the use of beams in different conditions were presented
