  7. Abstract:
  8. Ball mills are a category of industrial mills used for crushing and grinding non-metallic materials into powder. In these mills, as the mill rotates, steel balls move and by falling on materials, the process of crushing and grinding takes place. The mismatch between the rotation speed of the mill and the volume of balls inside it can result in ineffective collisions between the balls or between the balls and the inner protective layers of the mill, causing damage to the balls and liners and leading to repair costs and loss of production. The aim of this project is to design and prototype an intelligent system for monitoring the ball mass inside the mill to increase production efficiency and reduce the mentioned costs. In this regard, a system has been designed to measure the vibration and strain of the mill body during operation, which can be used to obtain the ball falling profile. A laboratory prototype of this design has been made and tested under various conditions. The results show that upgrading the prototype for strain monitoring is necessary, and monitoring body vibration with a maximum error of 10% has been achieved. Based on the results, it is possible to redesign, manufacture, and install a system for a real-scale mill
