  7. Abstract:
  8. The procurement process of construction materials and products is a significant part of construction projects. In Iran, the procurement process for construction projects is primarily carried out in a traditional manner. This means that various sections of this process are paper-based and come with many challenges, such as limitations in areas such as information collection, quickly comparing prices from different suppliers, transparently comparing product quality, and storing paper catalogs. The use of electronic procurement, as a tool for automating the supply chain in construction projects, can greatly help facilitate and improve this essential process in projects. This research presents an electronic procurement system that uses Building Information Modeling (BIM) in a web environment to improve the procurement process in construction industry projects in the country. In this context, the capabilities of BIM and local standards for BIM objects have been utilized to implement the electronic procurement system in order to address the existing needs in the procurement domain of the construction industry. The capabilities of the developed system have also been evaluated through a case study conducted during a construction project. The results obtained from this case study demonstrate the capabilities of the developed model in improving the procurement and supply process of construction materials and products in projects. It is anticipated that the development and expansion of the proposed electronic procurement system will significantly streamline the procurement process, reduce time wastage, decrease costs, and consequently increase the efficiency of construction projects
