- Abstract:
- This research explains the structure of “belief transformation” from a philosophical perspective. We experience the whole world as it is, without realizing that it is formed by invisible networks of beliefs, linguistic structures and bodily habits. A network that, like a personal “paradigm”, determines what we see, how we think and how we feel. Using an interdisciplinary perspective, this thesis combines key concepts from phenomenology (Husserl, Heidegger), philosophy of language (Wittgenstein, Gadamer) and philosophy of science (Kuhn, Quine) to provide a model for understanding this fundamental transformation. The argument is that transformation is not the final accumulation of knowledge, but rather a transformation in the existential structure and worldview of the individual, which is possible through awareness of this principle and the belief that it is challenged through conscious “verbal and physical exercise and practice”. This research suggests that becoming aware from one worldview to another requires a rearrangement of the entire network of beliefs in which one moves from a passive position in the world to an active participant in the ;creation of meaning
