    Design and Evaluation of a Reliable Switching Method for Network-on-Chips

    Abstract
    Growth in the number of transistors on a single die has made Network-on-Chips more vulnerable to transient faults such as Crosstalks, SEUs and MBUs. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the effects of virtual channel structures on the performance and the power consumptions of NoCs in the presence of transient faults. Evaluations have been carried out by different switch architectures and experimental conditions, i.e., different traffic and fault injection rates. In this regard, we have measured the power and latency of the switch both in different buffer allocation mechanisms and different switching methods.     A literature review of laboratory and field scale studies on low salinity water (LSW) injection showed that the salinity and composition of injected water can have a significant impact on oil recovery.     Demands for hydrocarbon production have been increasing in recent decades. As a tertiary production processes, chemical flooding is one of the effective technologies to increase oil recovery of hydrocarbon reservoirs. Retention of surfactants is one of the key parameters affecting the performance and economy of a chemical flooding process. The main parameters contribute to surfactant retention are mineralogy of rock, surfactant structure, pH, salinity, acidity of the oil, microemulsion viscosity, co-solvent concentration, and mobility.     Abstract
    The performance of CO2 injection into a semi-heavy oil reservoir was investigated at reservoir conditions, using highly permeable sandstone in a complete series of PVT tests and coreflooding experiments. Analysis of involved parameters such as: injection rate, injectant type and reservoir pressure were also considered. Oil viscosity reduction and oil swelling are the most influential mechanisms of enhanced oil recovery in this process. The results demonstrated that CO2 injection would decrease the interfacial tension for the high permeable medium in the absence of capillarity, but this reduction may not improve the recovery drastically.
