Multi-Object Tracking in Video using Graph Neural Networks

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hosseinzadeh, Mehran (Author) ; Rabiee, Hamid Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Multiple object tracking refers to the detection and following of target object classes in video sequences. In this task, all objects belonging to the target classes in the video are detected simultaneously in each frame, and a unique ID is assigned to each of them throughout the video. In recent years, the use of graph neural networks for solving this problem has received significant attention because these models are suitable tools for discovering and improving the relationships between objects in the scene, which can greatly assist in better object pairing. However, there are various challenges to using graph neural networks, the most important of which is the limitation of input graph...

Credit Rating Agencies during Credit Crunch

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Niazi, Ali (Author) ; Ebrahimnejad, Ali (Supervisor) ; Hosseinzadeh, Saeed (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This study examines the behaviour of credit rating agencies during the credit crunch and compares it with normal economic conditions. The rating agencies claim that when assessing the credibility of firms over time, they can distinguish between short-term and long-term factors of credit shocks. To evaluate this claim, using Moody's rating data and variables that represent the macroeconomic conditions and financial and business risks, we study whether there is a difference in the tendency of rating agencies to downgrade the rating of firms in the periods of the credit crunch. A credit crunch index is used to determine the occurrence of credit cycles, which is obtained from the time series of...

Jahn-Teller Effect in Diamond Vacancy Under Stress

    , M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology monfared, Mohammad (Author) ; Vesaghi, M. A (Supervisor) ; Babamoradi, M (Co-Advisor)
    Abstract
Electron states of diamond vacancy under stress were studied theoretically. The generalized Hubbard model is used to calculate the electrons energy levels. The results shows that the degeneracy of some levels (T, with triple space degeneracy) reduced to levels with lower degeneracy (E, with double space degeneracy and A, without degeneracy). Besides this spiting of degeneracy the energy of all states changed and therefore the transition energy between these states changed too. Jahn-Teller effect was observed

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rashidnejhad, Sajad (Author) ; Meghdari, A. (Ali) (Supervisor) ; Ghaemi Osgouie, Kambiz (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In the present work, trajectory optimization of the Dual-Arm Cam-Lock robot considering kinematic and dynamic redundancy is performed. First, the optimal control problem is solved only considering kinematic redundancy and then is solved considering dynamic redundancy. General form of the dynamic model for the system is developed using Lagrangian relations. Global optimization method is used for redundancy resolution problem. A performance index is defined based on the consumed kinetic energy and is minimized through a desired trajectory using the global optimization method. Formulations of optimal control problem are derived and initial boundary problem is changed to two point boundary value...

    Fall Detection Using Depth Videos

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hosseinzadeh, Matin (Author) ; Vosoughi-Vahdat, Bijan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Falls are one of the major causes leading to injury of elderly people. Using wearable devices for fall detection has a high cost and may cause inconvenience to the daily lives of the elderly. In this project, we present an automated fall detection approach that requires only a low-cost depth camera. Our approach combines two computer vision techniques, spatio-temporal fall characterization and a learning-based classifier to distinguish falls from other daily actions. A dense set of spatio-temporal feature vectors are computed from video to provide a localized description of the action, and subsequently aggregated in an empirical covariance matrix to compactly represent the action. Then, we...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hosseinzadeh, Navid (Author) ; Medi, Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Power amplifiers are used as the last block of transmitters. This block can be categorized as the one of most important part in communication systems. However, in transmitter systems which require high power to create stable link with the receivers, fabrication process like CMOS are unable to provide such level of power. Thus, designers employ another group of integrated circuits which names MMIC that offers this capability to designers. In this thesis, design procedure of an amplifier in Ka frequency bands is studied. The power amplifier is fabricated in 0.1um GaAs pHEMT.The isolating backvia wall (IBVW) technique hasbeen proposed to improve gain and stability. Some other designtechniques...

Design of Robust Controller for Depth of Anesthesia

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hosseinzadeh, Mahdi (Author) ; Sadati, Nasser (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Automatic control of depth of anesthesia is an important problem in biomedical engineering. The main challenging problem in anesthesia automation is inter-patients differences which is referred to as uncertainty and is crucial in robust controller design. One of the most appropriate tools in designing robust controllers is H_∞ concept. Furthermore, H_2 concept is used to reject the measurement noise which is unavoidable in practical cases. In this project we use mixed H_2/H_∞ concept to design robust controller for depth of anesthesia. Multi-model controller is another approach to design robust controller for depth of anesthesia, which reject measurement noise and also cover the...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hosseinzadeh, Mohammad Ali (Author) ; Akbari, Saeed (Supervisor)
    Abstract
A fullerene graph is a cubic and 3-connected plan graph that has exactly 12 faces of size5 and other faces of size 6, which can be regarded as the molecular graph of fullerene. In the irst part of this thesis we study some important deinitions and theorems whichused in the other parts.A matching of a graph G is a set M of edges of G such that no two edges of M sharean end-vertex; further a matching M of G is perfect if any vertex of G is incident with anedge of M. A matching M of G is maximum if |M| ? |N| for any other matching N in G. Amatching M is maximal if it is not a proper subset of some other matching in G. Obviously, any maximum matching in G is also a maximal matching. An...

Dynamic Analysis of FGM Micro Beam With Piezoelectric Patches Under Electric Force

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hosseinzadeh, Ali (Author) ; Ahmadian, Mohammad Taghi (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this research, a functionally graded microbeam bonded with piezoelectric layers is analyzed under electric force. Static and dynamic instability due to the electric actuation is studied because of its importance in micro electro mechanical systems, especially in micro switches. In order to prevent pull-in instability, two piezoelectric layers are used as sensor and actuator. A charge amplifier is used to supply input voltage of the actuator from the output of the sensor layer. Using Hamilton's principle and Euler-Bernoulli theory, equation of motion of the system is obtained. It is shown that the load type (distributed or concentrated) applied to the microbeam from the piezoelectric...

Fermions in Lattice Gauge Theory, Ising Model and Non-Equilibrium Systems

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hosseinzadeh, Ali (Author) ; Sadooghi, Néda (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Non-equilibrium systems refer to systems in which, unlike equilibrium systems, the initial condition plays an important role. Conventional methods in quantum field theory cannot be used to study these systems because they do not necessarily have a convergent perturbative expansion. In this thesis, we first briefly introduce the Ising model and fermions in the lattice gauge theory. We then introduce the two-particle irreducible (2PI) method as a tool to investigate nonequilibrium systems. Finally, using this method, we reformulate the Ising model for a system out of equilibrium

Numerical Investigation of Concrete Beams Reinforced with Perforated Plates

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hosseinzadeh, Ali (Author) ; Khaloo, Alireza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this study, the flexural behavior of simple concrete beams with rectangular section (depth 20cm and width 18 cm) reinforced with perforated steel plates is evaluated. Perforated steel plates are used as an alternative for steel bars in the tension region. Because of special geometry, these plates are more integrated with surrounding concrete as compared with steel rebars. The holes in the plates caused local confinement on the surrounding concrete. Concrete beams are modeled with different number of perforated steel plates (one or two or four layer) in Abaqus software. Also beams with different patch lengths are modeled to evaluate patch length of perforated steel plates. Results of...

Scheduling for Participation of a Virtual Power Plant in Energy and Reserve Markets Considering Renewable Energy Sources

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hosseinzadeh, Ali (Author) ; Abbaspour Tehrani Fard, Ali (Supervisor) ; Ehsan, Mehdi (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The appearance of renewable sources has created a more diverse energy mix and has made it challenging for grid operators to maintain stability in energy systems. The concept of a virtual power plant is the integration of different energy sources into a single entity that is collected and controlled through a central energy management system. It enables these sources to participate in electricity markets. This research presents a framework for the participation of a virtual power plant (VPP) in day-ahead (DA), reserve, and real-time (RT) energy markets. VPPs face several uncertainties, such as wind turbine (WT) production, demand, the status of calling the reserve, and energy market prices....
