  7. Abstract:
  8. Real-time Simulator plays an important role in the test of power electronic converters. Using of this simulators and Hardware-in-the-loop tests, cost and time of experiments will redused, furthermore those experiments which are not operative on the real system, can be achived. However, the accuracy of the used model in simulation as well as fast and easy programming of these simulators is very important. Therefore in this thesis, design and implementation of real-time simulator for power electronic converters have been discussed that in addition to high accuracy of the simulation, implementation of the several tests will be easy. As regards the power electronic switch is the most important element of this system, the modeling of switch is very important which due to different profits, for instance fixed admittance matrix of circuit by change of the switch(s) states, in this thesis Associated Discrete Circuit (ADC) have been used. With respect of this important profit used in simulators, in the ADC method, transient oscillation in current waveform of switch is observed. In this thesis, two methods has been used for solving this problem. First method was sampling from output signals, and other method was improved associated discrete circuit. Also, the library for real-time simulation of basic power electronic converter has been made. Therefore, it is necessary that user set the parameter of circuit in the concerned m-file and generate the bit file for implementation in FPGA. Finally with conformity of extracted waveforms in very suitable and accurate implemented FPGA-based real-time simulator with results of off-line simulation in MATLAB, proposed models and implemented FPGA-based real-time simulator has been verified
