, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Yousefi, Masoud (Author) ; Nejat, Hossein (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Microrobots have the potential to access small spaces for manipulation or for acting as a sensor. Magnetic microrobots are the most common types of microrobots. Magnetic microrobots have gained particular traction for medical applications due to safety of tissues. For instance, disease diagnosis, minimally invasive surgery and cell manipulation are potential applications of magnetic microrobots. The performance of a single microrobot could be improved by using multiple robots. For example each microrobot could carry a small payload to a goal inside a microfluidic channel, or could assemble fast and in parallel. In order to employ multiple robots, it is necessary to control each microrobot...

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Yousefi, Masoud (Author) ; Nejat Pishkenari, Hossein (Supervisor) ; Alasty, Aria (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Magnetic steering of continuum robots is a promising technology that uses a magnetic field to control the robot without contact and can improve the accessibility, safety, and accuracy of the robot. On the other hand, magnetic localization can also be used as a positioning method without direct line of sight in various applications. Common magnetic localization methods face the challenge of dependence on initial guess, divergence, and high computational cost. In this research, by eliminating the unknowns related to the orientation and rewriting the equations, a new method for magnetic localization has been presented. The advantage of the new method in convergence and increasing the speed of...

Direct Torque Control of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine Using Nonlinear Flux Observer

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Yaghoubi, Mokhtar (Author) ; Tahami, Farzad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Direct Torque Control (DTC) is one of the vector methods to control Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machines (PMSM). In order to achieve an appropriate control in vector control methods, an accurate estimation of flux is indispensable. Flux estimation should be fulfilled in a wide speed range without considerable dependence on motor parameters. Prevalent flux estimation methods are based on integration of stator voltage which is not feasible in low speed, or performed based on assumption of decoupled equations on d and q axis which is not precise for applications with fast dynamic. Different flux estimation methods are investigated in this thesis with the aim of improving the flux estimation in...

Improvement of the in-Memory Automata Processor Accelerators using Emerging Memories

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Yazdanpanah, Ali (Author) ; Hessabi, Shahin (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Non-deterministic finite automata (NFA) are an elementary type of Turing machines with very high processing power. NFA processors provide parallelism at the data and task level because they can be in several different output states in one clock cycle. Implementing such machines with memory is a good strategy because if we consider each of the memory columns as a state, by selecting a row of the memory, we can activate several states at the same time, which is an implementation of NFA. NFA-based automata processors were first introduced by Micron and were very powerful for issues such as pattern matching, DNA sequencing, or regular expressions and, in general, for machine learning topics....

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology karimiasl, Moslem (Author) ; Gholami, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this thesis, Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles were produced using co-precipitation method. The surface of these magnetic nanoparticles is modified by ionic-liquid groups, and then coated with Cu, Au and Ag metals. These nanoparticles were unstable before their surface modification, so that they were easily agglomerated. , M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Karamian Manesh, Mohammad Javad (Author) ; Sayyadi, Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Harvesting energy by magnetic shape memory alloy has many advantages against other various methods which harvested from environmental vibrations and has been considered due to high long longevity, large strain amplitude and good performance in low frequencies. These materials can display up to % recoverable strain in response to the application of a magnetic field or compressive mechanical stress. Microstructure of these materials changes under applying mechanical loading and/or magnetic field which cause magnetic vector rotating in magnetic domain. Change in magnetization of these materials, lead to harvesting energy by considering Faraday's law of induction. The model of this...
