Thioamides, Quinolinium and Isoquinolinium Salts: Useful Synthons in the Synthesis of Heterocyclic Compounds and Asymmetric Synthesis of Sulfonic acid Derivatives

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Mirjafary, Zohreh (Author) ; Matloubi Moghaddam, Firouz (Supervisor)
    Abstract
We have reported a new and efficient synthesis of a broad spectrum of heterotetracyclic benzoxazocines via unique tandem 1,3-dinucleophilic addition of different bifunctional nucleophiles to quinolinium and isoquinolinium salts. The reaction generally involves the initial addition of nucleophiles to quinolinium salts to form enamine intermediate which can be trapped by intramolecular O/S-alkylation of nucleophiles. This protocol is a very mild and simple method for construction of eight-membered ring in fused heterocycles in a one-step process. We have also developed an efficient asymmetric synthesis of α,β-disubstituted γ-bisalkoxycarbonyl and α, β- disubstituted γ- phosphono sulfonates via...

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Kiamehr, Mostafa (Author) ; Matloubi Moghaddam, Firouz (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In the first chapter, three efficient synthesis of novel polyheterocyclic indole and thiochromone-annulated thiopyranocoumarin derivatives are achieved via domino Knoevenagel hetero Diels–Alder reaction of O-acrylated and O-propargylated salicylaldehyde derivatives with indolin-2-thiones and 4-hydroxy dithiocoumarin. The domino Knoevenagel-hetero-Diels–Alder reactions are very efficient process that allows the formation of two or more rings at once, avoiding sequential chemical transformations. The products are formed in good-to-excellent yields with high regio- and stereoselectivity. The major advantage of this reaction is the ease of the work-up during which the products can be isolated...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Alemrajabi, Mahmood (Author) ; Farhadi, Fatollah (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Azeotropic separation has multiple difficulties. In order to remove the azeotropes, different solutions are recommended such as the use of entrainers, extractive distillation, and pervaporation. Based on initial condition of the mixture, a decision tree is proposed. As a sample, the Ethanol – Ethyl Acetate system is selected and a new solvent – entrainer is proposed with addition of different salts. The suitable concentrations of salt, entrainers or solvent are tested experimentally to draw the relevant RCM.
A suitable set up is designed and assembled, and then samples are taken to analyze in order to provide T-XY diagram. The pressure also is taken into account to correct its effect....

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Alaei Tazehgheshlagh, Mohammad Ali (Author) ; Saeedi, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Sulfur containing compounds are known as the most applicable group of organic compounds. Due to their medicinal and biological applications, dithiocarbamates are the most considerable among the many sulfur containing compounds. There are many procedures reported to synthesize these compounds as synthetic intermediates instead of thiophosgen and isothiocyanates. The reaction of amine and carbon disulfide is reported as the best and least hazardous way to synthesize this functional group. In this project heterocyclic compounds such as thiazoles, thiazolidine-2-thione, and 2-(alkylthio)thiazol-4(5H)-one derivatives were synthesized from the reaction of prepared dithiocarbamates with in situ...

    Abstract
Molecular nanomagnets, also known as Single Molecule Magnets (SMMs) are a class of molecules that at low temperature exhibit magnetic hysteresis of pure molecular origin and not related to a cooperative effect. In the past fifteen years they have attracted great interest for their potentiality to act as magnetic memory units and for the many quantum effects in the dynamics of their magnetization. Organization of SMM on surfaces is the first step in order to address the magnetic state of a single molecule or to connect the molecule to a conducting substrate. The complex nature of SMMs and the peculiar origin of their magnetic bistability have been representing for half a decade an obstacle to...
