Investigation on Effects of Nanoparticles Presence on Hydrate Formation Characterization During Drilling, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Mohammadi, Ali Asghar ; Zarenezhad, Bahman ; Ramazani, Ahmad
In past two decades, the direction of oil and gas exploration has moved towards deep water drilling. The pressure and temperature in these zones are ideal for gas hydrate formation that can cause serious and sometimes uncontrollable issues during drilling operations. Gas hydrate formation while drilling can cause problems such as occurrence of kick and blowout, plug chock and kill line, and change in rheology of drilling mud. On the other hand, nowadays, nanotechnology has created an evolution in engineering sciences and because of the wide range of this science, drilling industry is affected like other industries. In the meantime, because of high yield, high stability and various methods of...

After finding the effect of concentration of nanoparticles on coating characteristics and the results of using SEM, optimum conditions for uniform coating, acceptable adhesion at 20V and concentrations of 10 g/L for Ni, 1.2 g/L for SiO2, and choosing NiCl2 as additive with a concentration of 0.2 g/L...
Modeling of Crumb Rubber Concrete for a Structural Column by Evaluating the use of FRP, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Khaloo, Alireza
The research shows that the compressive strength of concrete reduced by replacing crumb rubber in concrete mix design compared to normal concrete mix design. However, there have been a couple of utilizations investigated to date for the structural utilization of these materials. Crumb rubber is usually provided from recycled rubber from automotive and truck scrap tires. During the recycling process steel and triviality are removed, leaving tire rubber with a granulose cohesiveness. The additional crumb-rubber aggregate has a significant effect on concrete mix porosity which affects both the plastic state workability and hardened state mechanical properties. This research depicts an...

Sharif University of Technology
The effects of adding nanoparticles in partitioning of α-amylase in polymer/salt aqueous two phase system (ATPS) was studied in this research. First the binodal curves of magnesium sulfate salt with PEGs 2000,3000,4000,6000 and 10000 at 23 ° C has been plotted and the suitable system which was PEG 6000/ magnesium sulfate has been selected for studying the partitioning of enzyme. Thereupon the partition coefficient of α-amylase was measured and then effect of adding silica and graphene oxide nanoparticles was investigated. It was observed that nanoparticles caused a dramatic increase in partition coefficient and yield recovery (of top phase). For further investigation the partitioning of...
Fluoride Removal from Radioactive Wastewater of UCF Plant by Adsorption, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Samadfam, Mohammad ; Sepehrian, Hamid
In this research, a review on fluoride adsorption revealed that the modification of the adsorber surface with ions like Ca2+ results in great enhancement of the fluoride adsorption. It seems that the enhancement in fluoride adsorption by the modified adsorber, is mainly due to the selective chemical binding of the fluoride ion with the surface-bound ion (Ca2+), regardless of the base material itself. In order to confirm this hypothesis, two different adsorber materials namely, γ-alumina (a material, conventionally used for fluoride removal from water and wastewater) and Micro-silica (a mineral with small adsorption capacity for fluoride) were selected for further study. It was found that the...

One solution to this problem is using the superhydrophobic surfaces with contact angle larger than 150°.In this study, we try to reduce the pressure drop through the galvanized pipes. So, by reducing the pressure drop, power required for pumps can be reduced. To this end, two different coatings by silica nano-particles which were modified with first hydrophobic agent are used. In first coating which is named as PS coating, stearic...

The experimental data show that nanoparticles have a destructive effect in very low and high percentages for extension test as well as in high percentages for compression test. On the other hand, graphene is more effective than GO on improving material properties. Furthermore, comparison of compression results in...
Characterization of Mechanical Properties of Polymer Nanocomposites with Spherical Inhomogeneities, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Naghdabadi, Reza ; Bagheri, Reza
The improved properties of nanocomposites are not achievable with conventional composites. Scale effect is one the most important parameters in the physical and mechanical properties of polymeric nanocomposites. One of the physical phenomena, which can be related to the scale effect, is the very large interface between the nanoparticles and the polymeric matrices. Motional behavior and conformation of polymeric chains change near the nanoparticles surfaces. Due to high interface of the nanoparticles with the polymeric matrices the amount of these types of changes in the polymeric chains are so large that can change the physical and mechanical properties of polymeric nanocomposites. In this...

The aim of this study is to increase epoxy toughness, maintaining mechanical properties and study effect of silica and polycarbonate on fracture toughness simultaneously. Mechanical properties including yield strength and elastic modulus are evaluated by pressure test. Additionally fracture toughness and three...
