    Abstract
Over the past few decades, gold nanomaterials have shown great promise in the field of nanotechnology, especially in medical and biological applications. They have become the most used nanomaterials in those fields due to their several advantageous. However, rod-shaped gold nanoparticles, or gold nanorods (GNRs), have some more unique physical, optical, and chemical properties, making them proper candidates for biomedical applications including drug/gene delivery, photothermal/photodynamic therapy, and theranostics. Most of their therapeutic applications are based on their ability for tunable heat generation upon exposure to near-infrared (NIR) radiation, which is helpful in both...

    Abstract
In the present study, first, Fe3O4nanoparticles were functionalized using glutaric acid and then composited with CQDs. Doxorubicin (DOX) drug was loaded to evaluate the performance of the nanocomposite for targeted drug delivery applications. The XRD pattern confirmed the presence of characteristic peaks of CQDs and Fe3O4. In the FTIR spectrum, the presence of carboxyl functional groups on Fe3O4/CQDs was observed; DOX (positive charge) is loaded onto Fe3O4/CQDs (negative charge) by electrostatic absorption. FESEM and AFM images showed that the particle sizes of Fe3O4and CQDs were 23-75 and 1-3 nm, respectively. The hysteresis curves showed superparamagnetic properties for Fe3O4and Fe3O4/CQDs...

    Abstract
Systemic chemotherapy has lost its position to treat cancer over the past years mainly due to drug resistance, side effects, and limited survival ratio. Among a plethora of local drug delivery systems to solve this issue, the combinatorial strategy of chemo-hyperthermia has recently received attention. Herein we developed a magneto-thermal nanocarrier consisted of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) coated by a blend formulation of a three-block copolymer Pluronic F127 and F68 on the oleic acid (OA) in which Curcumin as a natural and chemical anti-cancer agent was loaded. The subsequent nanocarrier SPION@OA-F127/F68-Cur was designed with a controlled gelation temperature of...

    Abstract
Multifunctional magnetic shape memory polymer (SMP) nanocomposites with high sensitivity was synthesized through inclusion of silane functionalized nanodiamond@Fe3O4 (S-NDF) hybrid nanoparticle into polycaprolactone (PCL) based polyurethane acrylate (PUA) matrix followed by in situ crosslinking of the matrix. Highly biocompatible and superparamagnetic nanodiamond(ND)@Fe3O4 nanohybrids were synthesized through in situ co-precipitation method. The morphological analysis suggested that S-NDFs filled PUAs (2 to 9 wt% loadings) well interacted with both soft and hard domains of the matrix. The base polymer and the nanocomposites presented excellent shape fixity ratio (above 97%) and shape...

    Abstract
Abstract: Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) are considered as promising magnetic nanoheating agents for diagnostic as well as therapeutic applications due to their biocompatibility and tunability of magnetic properties. These nanoheating agents are commonly synthesized by coprecipitation of two iron precursors, though applying less amount of these chemicals may minimize the toxicity risks for biomedical purposes. The aim of this study is to address this issue by considering the high oxidation vulnerability of ferrous ions to ferric ions to synthesize SPIONs via a single-iron precursor under four varied oxidative conditions. The obtained results implied that the properties...

    Abstract
In the present study, bubble-driven magnesium-based micromotors were fabricated through a shading method, and the potential of magnetic guidance of magnesium-based Janus micro/nanomotors through functionalization with superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) was investigated for the first time. SPIONs had physical electrostatic attraction with the positively charged magnesium spheres due to negative charges on their surfaces. It was also found that upon applying a field gradient, the micromotors’ velocity increased by 13% unlike other magnetically navigated spherical magnesium-based micromotors which only show a change in direction. In this work the cytotoxicity of the moving...

    Abstract
Porphyrins are organic compounds that continue to attract much theoretical interest, and have been called the “pigments of life”. They have a wide role in photodynamic and sonodynamic therapy, along with uses in magnetic resonance, fluorescence and photoacoustic imaging. There is a vast range of porphyrins that have been isolated or designed, but few of them have real clinical applications. Due to the hydrophobic properties of porphyrins, and their tendency to aggregate by stacking of the planar molecules they are difficult to work with in aqueous media. Therefore encapsulating them in nanoparticles (NPs) or attachment to various delivery vehicles have been used to improve delivery...

Magnetite nanoparticles with double layer coating of oleic acid and pluronic F127 have been reported as an on-demand smart carrier for hydrophobic drugs. LCST was examined using differential scanning calorimetry...

    Abstract
During the last few decades, nanotechnology has established many essential applications in the biomedical field and in particular for cancer therapy. Not only can nanodelivery systems address the shortcomings of conventional chemotherapy such as limited stability, non-specific biodistribution and targeting, poor water solubility, low therapeutic indices, and severe toxic side effects, but some of them can also provide simultaneous combination of therapies and diagnostics. Among the various therapies, the combination of chemo- and photothermal therapy (CT-PTT) has demonstrated synergistic therapeutic efficacies with minimal side effects in several preclinical studies. In this regard,...

    Abstract
Aggregation of the natively unfolded protein α-synuclein (α-syn) is key to the development of Parkinson's disease (PD). Some nanoparticles (NPs) can inhibit this process and in turn be used for treatment of PD. Using simulation strategies, we show here that α-syn self-assembly is electrostatically driven. Dimerization by head-to-head monomer contact is triggered by dipole-dipole interactions and subsequently stabilized by van der Waals interactions and hydrogen bonds. Therefore, we hypothesized that charged nano-objects could interfere with this process and thus prevent α-syn fibrillation. In our simulations, positively and negatively charged graphene sheets or superparamagnetic iron oxide...

    Abstract
The influence of Fe3O4 nanoparticles (NPs) on dielectric properties of planar and homeotropic oriented nematic liquid crystals (NLCs) were studied during the temperature interval of 298–322 °K. It was found that the dielectric permittivity was considerably increased by adding NPs mass percentages. The structural characterization of the synthesized NPs with the scale 14–18 nm has been analyzed by the X-ray diffraction and field-emission scanning electron microscopy results. The obtained dielectric anisotropy (Δε) and mean dielectric (Formula presented.) have shown an immense increment in the value of 1% and 10% wt. NPs doped NLCs, respectively. These results were assigned to the strong...
