, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Akbarzadeh Pasha, Mohammad (Author) ; Vessaghi, Mohammad Ali (Supervisor) ; Taghavinia, Nima (Co-Advisor) ; Shafiekhani, Azizollah (Co-Advisor)
    Abstract
In this study three different methods; hot filament chemical vapor deposition (HFCVD), pulsed laser ablation (PLA) and electrochemical deposition were utilized to prepare catalyst thin films or nanoparticles and thermal chemical vapor deposition (TCVD) was used to grow multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs). We found that even though the three mentioned techniques have been rarely applied by researchers, they are appropriate and efficient methods to produce catalytic basis for CNT growth. In the TCVD step, liquid petroleum gas (LPG) was applied as carbon source. Although, this gas is a mixture of different hydrocarbons and further contains some sulfur, our results verify that utilizing of LPG...

ECU Strategies in Management and Control of Catalyst and Oxygen Sensors after Activation of Lambda Control

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Reyhanian, Masoud (Author) ; Mozaffari, Ali Asghar (Supervisor) ; Saeedi, Mohammad Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The number of operating vehicles has increased in recent years and as a result global pollutants have widely spread. Therefore, the regulations on the vehicle exhaust emissions have become much stricter. For an automobile to pass the emission tests successfully an accurate calibration of the ECU tables is needed, especially the tables which have direct impact on the amount of pollutant emissions. To achieve the optimum performance of the catalyst existing in the exhaust system of the engine, the fuel/air ratio must have nearly stoichiometric value. The present research studies the ECU strategies for implementing this objective by appropriate management and control of catalyst and oxygen...

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Nahali, Masoud (Author) ; Gobal, Fereydoon (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This work investigates adsorption and possible dissociation of a number of small molecules on small clusters and carbonic surface. Theoretical study of carbon monoxide adsorption on SixGe4_x(x=0–4) nano-clusters has been carried out using MPW1B95 density functional. The geometry, adsorption energy, charge distribution, and vibrational frequency of CO adsorption on all possible structures were investigated. The maximum vibrational frequency changes occur in the bridge structures while the most stable structures occur when CO adsorbs on one silicon atom in a flat surface. Adsorption energies of CO on one Si atom are by far more negative than the corresponding value for on Ge atom. Theoretical...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Nikfar, Rouzbeh (Author) ; Farahani, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Monopropellant thrusters are one of the most common types of propulsion systems that are used extensively in space applications. Especially thrusters with a capacity of less than 50N, they are used on space satellites and are developing rapidly. Problems such as contamination, toxicity of the propellant, difficulty in storing and custody, as well as price, led to the removal of the hydrazine from the focus of attention and focus on green propulsion. One of these, is the green propellant of hydrogen peroxide, which is decomposed in the proper catalytic vicinity, and the only chemical decomposition products are oxygen and water vapour. The present study aims to design and construct mono...

Investigating the Effect of Electric Field on Chemical Reaction Rate

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Adani Basmenj, Hamed (Author) ; Nasimi, Ali Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The aim of this study is to find a formulation to investigate the catalytic effect of the electric field on the kinetic pathway of a chemical reaction. The catalytic effects of the electric field can be explained by the effect of the external electric field on the stability of the transition state relative to the reactants. The effect of the external electric field on the reaction rate for redox reactions have been proven, but this effect seemed unlikely for non redox reactions. Recently, the role of the electric field in the rate of such chemical reactions, as well as its catalytic activity, has been demonstrated experimentally and computationally. In previous studies, reactive components...

Using different scanning mechanisms for the catalytic properties of the synthesized nanocomposites, it was clearly demonstrated that the anionic superoxide plays a decisive role. Reduction of 4-NP in the presence of NaBH4 was also used to investigate...

    Abstract
Sulfur compounds are largely an impurity in fossil fuels such as natural gas, crude oil and coal. In natural gas, the main sulfur compounds are hydrogen sulfide (H2S), carbonyl sulfide (COS),and C1-C3 mercaptans.Commercial methods for removing these compounds require the introduction of additional reactive substances (O2, H2, Olefins, NaOH, etc.), which often results in the production of other pollutants. Microfluid is a branch of science and technology that involves studying the behavior of fluid, the use of fluid and the manufacture of equipment or systems that are carried out in micro-channels.The dimensions of these canals are about ten to several hundred micrometers, and high of...
