    , Article 2005 ASME Pressure Vessels and Piping Conference, PVP2005, Denver, CO, 17 July 2005 through 21 July 2005 ; Volume 2 , 2005 , Pages 201-206 ; 0277027X (ISSN) Naghdabadi, R ; Ghavam, K ; Sharif University of Technology
    2005
    Abstract
In this paper a model for analyzing elastic-plastic kinematic hardening materials is introduced, based on the additive decomposition of the corotational rate of an Eulerian strain tensor In this model, the elastic constitutive equation as well as the flow rule and the hardening equation is expressed in terms of the elastic and plastic parts of the corotational rate of the mentioned Eulerian strain tensor and its conjugate stress tensor. In the flow rule, the plastic part of the corotational rate of the Eulerian strain tensor is related to the difference of the deviatoric part of the conjugate stress and the back stress tensors. A proportionality factor is used in this flow rule which must be...

    Abstract
Based on transport and magnetic measurements on Gd(Ba2-xPr x)Cu3O7+δ, and some other properties of high temperature superconductors (HTSC), we have extracted similarities between superconductors, two-dimensional electron gas (2D-EG) i.e., MOSFETs. These are based on properties such as superconductor-insulator transition in superconductors and metal-insulator transition (MIT) in 2D-EG with doping and magnetic field, localization in transport conduction, quantum unit of resistance at MIT, larger change in resistivity from critical doping to the insulating side in comparison with change from critical doping to the metallic side, and strongly electron-electron coupling. These similarities could...

Thermally activated phase slip and variable range hopping in Tm(Ba 2-xPrx)Cu3O7+δ

    , Article Physica Status Solidi C: Conferences ; Volume 1, Issue 7 , 2004 , Pages 1891-1894 ; 16101634 (ISSN) Mokhtari, Z ; Khosroabadi, H ; Akhavan, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2004
    Abstract
The magnetoresistance measurement of single phase polycrystalline Tm(Ba2-xPrx)Cu3O7+δ samples have been analyzed by the Ambegaokar and Halperine (AH) phase slip model. The magnetic field dependence of pinning energy power factors increase with the increase of Pr doping. The derived critical current density from the AH theory decreases with increasing magnetic field and Pr-doping for all superconducting samples. It shows that the Pr-doping plays the role of weak link. We have also investigated the normal state resistivity with the hopping model. We have found a CG-VRH cross-over with the increase of Pr content near metal insulator transition. The deacrease of the localization length of the...

Performance analysis of multicarrier frequency-hopping (MC-FH) code-division multiple-access systems: Uncoded and coded schemes

    , Article IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology ; Volume 53, Issue 4 , 2004 , Pages 968-981 ; 00189545 (ISSN) Ebrahimi, M ; Nasiri Kenari, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2004
    Abstract
In this paper, we provide multiuser performance analysis of a multicarrier frequency-hopping (MC-FH) code-division multiple-access system as first introduced in the work of Lance and Kaleh. We propose to use a practical low-rate convolutional error-correcting code in this system, which does not require any additional bandwidth than what is needed by the frequency-hopping spread-spectrum modulation. We provide multiuser exact performance analysis of the system for both uncoded and coded schemes in additive white Gaussian noise and fading channels for a single-user correlator receiver. We also derive the performance analysis of the system based on a Gaussian distribution assumption for...

Ba@Pr or Pr@Ba in R123 HTSC - To be or not to be SC

    , Article Physica Status Solidi (B) Basic Research ; Volume 241, Issue 6 , 2004 , Pages 1242-1250 ; 03701972 (ISSN) Akhavan, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2004
    Abstract
In spite of the vast amount of experimental and theoretical knowledge accumulated in HTSC, the nature of the interaction driving charge carriers to form Cooper pairs below Tc is still unknown. To elucidate the controversial insulating/SC Pr123, the substitution of Pr at Ba site (Pr@Ba) with Ba at Pr site (Ba@Pr) in R123 is compared and reviewed. This might shed some light on the microscopic origin of HTSC. © 2004 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim

    Abstract
The morphology of the perovskite layer, the effective extraction of the charge carriers, and their transport are the main factors determining the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of the perovskite solar cells (PSCs). In this work, we demonstrated that the geometric and electronic structures of the PSCs could be modified by using a conductive polymer additive in the lead (Pb) halide layer prepared by a two-step deposition method. Polypyrrole (PPy) as a conductive polymer is used in the perovskite layers which could increase the PCE of CH3NH3PbI3-xClx mixed-halide PSCs. By adding an optimized amount of PPy, PCE has been raised from 10.4 to 13.2%. PPy acts as a conductive channel facilitating...

    Abstract
This paper is concerned with the tele-operation of autonomous vehicles over analog Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) channel, which is subject to transmission noise and power constraint. The nonlinear dynamic of autonomous vehicles is described by the unicycle model and is cascaded with a bandpass filter acting as encoder. Using the describing function method, the nonlinear dynamic of autonomous vehicles is represented by an approximate linear system. Then, the available results for linear control over analog AWGN channel are extended to account for linear continuous time systems with non-real valued and multiple real valued eigenvalues and for tracking a non-zero reference signal....

    Abstract
Additive manufacturing, artificial intelligence and cloud manufacturing are three pillars of the emerging digitized industrial revolution, considered in industry 4.0. The literature shows that in industry 4.0, intelligent cloud based additive manufacturing plays a crucial role. Considering this, few studies have accomplished an integration of the intelligent additive manufacturing and the service oriented manufacturing paradigms. This is due to the lack of prerequisite frameworks to enable this integration. These frameworks should create an autonomous platform for cloud based service composition for additive manufacturing based on customer demands. One of the most important requirements of...

Adversarial orthogonal regression: Two non-linear regressions for causal inference

    Abstract
We propose two nonlinear regression methods, namely, Adversarial Orthogonal Regression (AdOR) for additive noise models and Adversarial Orthogonal Structural Equation Model (AdOSE) for the general case of structural equation models. Both methods try to make the residual of regression independent from regressors, while putting no assumption on noise distribution. In both methods, two adversarial networks are trained simultaneously where a regression network outputs predictions and a loss network that estimates mutual information (in AdOR) and KL-divergence (in AdOSE). These methods can be formulated as a minimax two-player game; at equilibrium, AdOR finds a deterministic map between inputs...

    Abstract
Multistimuli-responsive hyperbranched polymers were synthesized in one-step polymerization using reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer self-condensing vinyl polymerization (RAFT-SCVP). These hyperbranched polymers responded to UV-vis or sunlight, pH changes, and temperature changes. 2-(dodecylthiocarbonothioylthio)-2-methylpropionic acid known as DDMAT participated in esterification with 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate to obtain a chain transfer monomer in the name of 2-((2-(((dodecylthio)carbonothioyl)thio)-2-methylpropanoyl)oxy)ethylmethacrylate (MACDT). For the first time, smart hyperbranched polymers were produced with the RAFT-SCVP method in one step by using...
