    , Article Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Research ; Volume 56, Issue 44 , 2017 , Pages 12596-12607 ; 08885885 (ISSN) Haddadi, S. A ; Ahmad Ramazani, S. A ; Talebi, S ; Fattahpour, S ; Hasany, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
The effects of different nano-SiO2 contents on the rheological properties of poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) solution and mechanical, thermal, structural, and piezoelectric properties of composite nanofibers were investigated. Results showed an increase in fiber diameter (∼125 to 350 nm) and ∼450% increase in tensile strength as the content of nano-SiO2 particles increased. The degree of crystallinity decreased by 19% as the nano-SiO2 content increased by 2% (w/w). Further investigation demonstrated that silica could significantly improve the piezoelectric properties of PVDF nanofibers as the output voltage showed an increase in the presence of silica attributed to change in the crystalline...

    Abstract
Electrospinning is a process that produces nanofiber through the action of an external electric field imposed on a polymer solution or melt. This paper introduces a new system capable of producing continuous uniaxially aligned PAN nanofiber yarn by manipulating the electric field. The manipulation was carried out by employing a negative charged bar in the electric field of conventional electrospinning system, leading to the formation of an electrostatic multipolar field. As a result, the main stream was redirected towards a rotating take up unit, collecting the twisted yarn consisting of uniaxially aligned nanofibers. The yarns were then treated in boiling water under tension and their...

    Abstract
Abstract In this study, aluminium titanate (AT) particles and nanofibers were synthesized through citrate sol gel and sol gel-assisted electrospinning methods in both nanostructured powder and nanofiber forms. The results of X-ray diffraction analysis, field-emission scanning electron microscopy and differential thermal analysis showed that the synthetic products benefit a nanostructured nature with a grain size less than 70 nm. The optimal values for time and temperature at which a roughly pure AT is attained were determined as 2 h and 900 C, respectively. It was found that the sol gel precursor bears an amorphous structure till 700 C and begins to be crystallized to alumina, anatase and AT...

    Abstract
A sustainable eutectic mixture of two fatty acids, i.e. Lauric acid (LA) and Palmitic acid (PA), was produced as Phase Change Materials (PCMs) to control body temperature fluctuations. Based on thermodynamic calculations and related experimental analyses, the mass ratio of the mixture was chosen as LA:PA = 69:31. A core-shell structure was prepared through coaxial electrospinning, so as to prevent the leakage of PCM during phase change from the solid state to liquid one. Nylon 6 covered the core as the shell of the prepared nanofiber. The optimized nanofibers were obtained with the diameter of 152.7 nm. The produced PCM possessed an onset melting temperature of 32.17 °C, which was close to...

    Abstract
Tailoring the properties of electrospun fibers requires a detailed understanding and control of their microstructure. We investigate the structure/property relationships in fabrics of randomly aligned fibers of polylactide, a prevalent biopolymer, either as-spun or after annealing and solvent-induced crystallization. In-depth characterization by field-emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM), wide-angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD), attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared (ATR-FTIR), and modulated temperature differential scanning calorimetry (MT-DSC) reveals that the as-spun fibers comprise crystalline and mesomorphic phases, as well as oriented but mobile amorphous chain...

Three-Dimensional Polyamide Nanofibrous Scaffolds for Needle Trap Microextraction of Chlorobenzenes from Water Samples and Comparing them with Two-Dimensional Nanofibres

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Manshaei, Faranak (Author) ; Bagheri, Habib (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In the past decades, electrospinning has been widely used for the production of micro/nanofibers. In spite of the simplicity and effectivity of the conventional electrospinning for fabricating nanofibers, compact structure and small pores of the nanofibers hinder the efficient penetration of analytes during the extraction process. In order to overcome this issue, an applicable strategy called wet electrospinnig has been employed to enlarge the pore size of the electrospun scaffolds. By applying this technique, a collector was placed at the bottom of a solvent bath and highly porous foam from polyamide nanofibers was produced immediately after freeze-drying (3D electrospinning)....
