    Abstract
The controlled and stable crystal structure, reduction in Curie temperature and semiconducting nature of oxide materials are the key factors for magnetoelectrical applications. Therefore, Co0.6Mn0.4GdxFe2-xO4 where x = 0, 0.033, 0.066 and 0.10 were synthesized to analyse the structural, morphological, magnetic, and electrical properties using a sol-gel autocombustion approach. The X-ray diffraction pattern reveals that the cubic crystallite size decreases with increasing smaller content of Gd3+ oxides without any secondary phase. Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM) study explain the complete morphology,...

    Abstract
Functionalized magnetic core-zeolitic shell nanocomposites were prepared via hydrothermal and precipitation methods. The products were characterized by vibrating sample magnetometer, X-ray powder diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherms, and transmission electron microscopy analysis. The growth of mordenite nanocrystals on the outer surface of silica-coated magnetic nanoparticles at the presence of organic templates was well approved. The removal performance and the selectivity of mixed metal ions (Pb2+ and Cd2+) in aqueous solution were investigated via the sorption process. The batch method was employed to study the sorption kinetic,...

Effect of cobalt replacement by nickel on functionally graded cemented carbonitrides

    , Article International Journal of Refractory Metals and Hard Materials ; Volume 30, Issue 1 , January , 2012 , Pages 42-47 ; 02634368 (ISSN) Mohammadpour, M ; Abachi, P ; Pourazarang, K ; Sharif University of Technology
    2012
    Abstract
Functionally graded cemented carbonitrides (FGCCs) are applied in cutting tools industry. Indexable inserts made from mentioned alloys have superior cutting performance and tool life thanks the formation of a surface modified layer with enhanced properties as well as crater wear resistance. Cemented carbonitrides are made of hard carbide/nitride/carbonitride particles that have been embedded in a metallic binder. Excellent wetting ability of tungsten carbide with cobalt has made this metal the first choice as binder. However, cobalt has high cost and environmental pollution impacts. Substitution of cobalt with other metals has always been figured out. Some other metals that have been used as...

The combination of transition metal (Cu) and rare earth (Ce) were employed to tailor the characteristics of the spinel ferrites. The constant ratio of rare earth and systematic doping of Cu in Co ferrite was incorporated to see the effects of these ions in spinel ferrite. FTIR, FESEM, XRD and VSM were used to study the vibrational bands, phase, morphology, structure and magnetic...

    Abstract
Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs), a single DNA base varying from one individual to another, are believed to be the most frequent form responsible for genetic differences. Genotype is the conflated information of a pair of haplotypes on homologous chromosomes. Although haplotypes have more information for disease associating than individual SNPs and genotype, it is substantially more difficult to determine haplotypes through experiments. Hence, computational methods which can reduce the cost of determining haplotypes become attractive alternatives. MEC, as a standard model for haplotype reconstruction, is fed by fragments as input to infer the best pair of haplotypes with minimum error...

    Abstract
In this study, the effects of milling time, chemical composition and heat treatment on microstructure and magnetic properties of nanocrystalline Fe-Si (6.5-25 at.% Si) alloys prepared by mechanical alloying have been investigated. The results show that increasing the milling time or the Si content, decreases the lattice parameter and increases the internal microstrain. The prepared powders mainly consist of micron-sized particles with an average grain size of less than 20 nm. The specific saturation magnetization values are slightly less than those of single crystal or conventional Fe-Si alloys and decrease as Si content increases. The coercive force values of the nanocrystalline as-milled...

    Abstract
Tunable microwave absorption characteristics are highly desirable for industrial applications such as antenna, absorber, and biomedical diagnostics. Here, we report BiNdxCrxFe1-2xO3 (x = 0, 0.05, 0.10, 0.15) nanoparticles (NPs) with electromagnetic matching, which exhibit tunable magneto-optical and feasible microwave absorption characteristics for microwave absorber applications. The experimental results and theoretical calculations demonstrate the original bismuth ferrite (BFO) crystal structure, while Nd and Cr injection in the BFO structure may cause to minimize dielectric losses and enhance magnetization by producing interfacial defects in the spinel structure. Nd and Cr co-doping plays...

Fe 50Co 50 nanoparticles via self-propagating high-temperature synthesis during milling

    , Article Powder Technology ; Volume 208, Issue 3 , 2011 , Pages 623-627 ; 00325910 (ISSN) Azizi, A ; Yourdkhani, A ; Koohestani, H ; Sadrnezhaad, S. K ; Asmatulu, R ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Self-propagating exothermic reactions during mechanical milling of FeCl 3/CoCl 2 mixture together with sodium seeds resulted in formation of Fe 50Co 50 nanoparticles. Highly exothermic reactions resulted in temperature raise and formation of Fe 50Co 50 phase within the first 5min; however Fe 50Co 50 single-phase was obtained after 30min of milling. The products were characterized by XRD, SEM, EDS, TEM and VSM. Obtained results showed that both milling time and NaCl salt matrix affected the size, morphology, microstructure and magnetic properties of the produced particles

The cell lines studied were primary mouse connective tissue cells (adhesive) and human leukemia cells (suspended). SPION were synthesized with a co-precipitation method under different stirring rates and NaOH molarities. The SPION demonstrated a range of magnetic saturations due to their...
