Al doped ZnO NanoStructures by Electrodeposition & Solvothermal for Dye Sensitized Solar Cells Application

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ghahary, Raheleh (Author) ; Taghavinia, Nima (Supervisor)
    Abstract
ZnO semiconductor has a wide band gap (3.3eV) and high electron mobility, making it a possible candidate for an effective structure-based Dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) semiconductor. Efficiency of DSSC based on ZnO is lower than TiO2 due to its low chemical satability. It is well known that the energy conversion efficiency of DSSC depends on the electron transport in the photoelectrode so in this investigation we fabricated high transport photoelectrode by doping Al in ZnO nanostructures. DSSC based on Al doped and undoped ZnO nanosheet synthesized by electrochemical deposition. Current density-voltage (J-V) characterizations indicate that Al-doping in ZnO crystal structure increases...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Pourasad, Fatemeh (Author) ; Ramezani Saadat Abadi, Ahmad (Supervisor) ; Mousavi, Abbas (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This study investigated the effect of oxidized molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) nanosheets on the anti-corrosion and rheological properties of epoxy resin. Raw MoS2 sheets were obtained as layered nanosheets with a thickness of 50 to 100 nm using acid washing, oxidation, and heat shock methods. The use of nanoparticle characterization tests such as XRD, FT-IR, FE-SEM, EDS, and TGA supports this claim. Then, in the next step, epoxy coatings containing different percentages (0, 0.3, 0.5, 0.8, and 1.5 wt%) of MoS2 nanosheets were prepared with polyamide hardener to investigate the effect of adding nanosheets and the optimal percentage. The best effect on the corrosion properties of the coating in a...

    , Article Journal of Drug Delivery Science and Technology ; Volume 45 , June , 2018 , Pages 422-427 ; 17732247 (ISSN) Akbari, E ; Akhavan, O ; Hatamie, S ; Rahighi, R ; Sharif University of Technology
    Editions de Sante  2018
    Abstract
In this work, graphene oxide (GO) aqueous suspensions prepared by a chemical exfoliation method showed a fluorescence peak at ∼615 nm. Photoluminescence spectroscopy determined that functionalization of the GO sheets by 3-(2-Aminoethylamino) propyltrimethoxysilane molecules significantly quench the fluorescence property of the GO sheets. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy confirmed proper functionalization of the GO sheets. Curcumin was applied as a fluorescent natural material with an emission peak at ∼550 nm wavelength for green fluorescent labeling of the functionalized-GO sheets. The curcumin-labeled functionalized-GO sheets showed an intense emission band fluorescent property with...

Graphitic carbon nitride nanosheets as a fluorescent probe for chromium speciation

    , Article Microchimica Acta ; Volume 185, Issue 2 , 2018 ; 00263672 (ISSN) Rahbar, N ; Salehnezhad, Z ; Hatamie, A ; Babapour, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    Springer-Verlag Wien  2018
    Abstract
A fluorometric method was developed for simultaneous determination of Cr(VI) and Cr(III) ions using graphitic carbon nitride nanosheets (g-C3N4 NS) as a nanosized fluorescent indicator probe. The g-C3N4 NS were prepared using high-temperature carbonization of melamine followed by ultrasonication-assisted liquid exfoliation. The g-C3N4 NS display fluorescence with excitation/emission peaks located at 320 and 450 nm. The chromium speciation is based on the quenching of g-C3N4 NS fluorescence. The total concentration of chromium is determined after oxidation of Cr(III) to Cr(VI). The Cr(III) content was then calculated by subtracting the concentration of Cr(VI) from that of total chromium. The...

    Abstract
The graphene-based Ziegler-Natta catalyst has been used to prepare ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene/graphene oxide (UHMWPE/GO) nanocomposite via in situ polymerization. The morphological investigations have been conducted using X-ray diffraction patterns and scanning electron microscopy method. The obtained results indicated that no diffraction peak is detected in a GO pattern, which could be due to the exfoliation of graphene nanosheets in the UHMWPE matrix. Morphological investigations indicated that GO nanosheets are dispersed almost uniformly in polymeric matrix, and that there should exist a good interaction between nanofillers and matrix. The mechanical properties of the...

    Abstract
In this study, novel graphene oxide/chitosan nanocomposite coatings with long term drugeluting potential are presented. The coatings are fabricated by the facile and reproducible electrophoretic deposition technique. Analysis of the prepared films shows that the graphene oxide nanosheets are exfoliated in the chitosan matrix. Fourier-transform infrared spectrometry reveals polymer attachment to the carboxylic bonds of graphene oxide, providing a strong interaction and exfoliation of the nanolayers. In vitro viability assay by human osteosarcoma cells (MG-63) demonstrates that the nanocomposite films are highly biocompatible up to 30 wt% graphene oxide, but at higher concentrations a slight...

Effect of graphene oxide nanosheets on the physico-mechanical properties of chitosan/bacterial cellulose nanofibrous composites

    , Article Composites Part A: Applied Science and Manufacturing ; Volume 85 , 2016 , Pages 113-122 ; 1359835X (ISSN) Azarniya, A ; Eslahi, N ; Mahmoudi, N ; Simchi, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier Ltd
    Abstract
In this work, novel chitosan/bacterial cellulose (CS/BC) nanofibrous composites reinforced with graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets are introduced. As cell attachment and permeability of nanofibrous membranes highly depend on their fiber diameter, the working window for successful electrospinning to attain sound nanofibrous composites with a minimum fiber diameter was determined by using the response surface methodology. It is shown that the addition of GO nanosheets to CS/BC significantly reduces the average size of the polymeric fibers. Their mechanical properties are also influenced and can be tailored by the concentration of GO. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy reveals hydrogen bonding...

    Abstract
Graphene-supported BiPO4/Ag/Ag3PO4 photocatalyst has been fabricated by simple hydrothermal and impregnation reaction. In BiPO4/Ag/Ag3PO4 based on Reduced Graphene Oxide (RGO), this network renders numerous pathways for rapid mass transport, strong adsorption and multireflection of incident light; meanwhile, the interface between BiPO4/Ag/Ag3PO4 and RGO increases the active sites and electron transfer rate. BiPO4/Ag/Ag3PO4 based on RGO noticeably exhibited high photocatalytic activity than that of BiPO4/Ag/Ag3PO4 and P25 under visible light irradiation for cationic dye (Rhodamine B), anionic dye (methyl orange) and 4-chlorophenol (4-CP) as a neutral pollutant, which are usually difficult to...

On the design of graphene oxide nanosheets membranes for water desalination

    , Article Desalination ; Volume 422 , 2017 , Pages 83-90 ; 00119164 (ISSN) Safaei, S ; Tavakoli, R ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier B.V  2017
    Abstract
According to current researches, graphene oxide (GO) membranes show promising desalination properties due to ease of synthesis, low production cost, and high efficiency. There are several experimental works to study ionic sieving properties of GO membranes. However, it is difficult to characterize atomistic mechanism of water permeation and ion rejection by experimental approaches. On the other hand, there exist a few reports in which the atomistic picture of water permeation across GO membranes is investigated by means of molecular dynamics (MD) simulation. In the present work, in addition to water desalination, the atomic scale mechanism of ion rejection is studied using large scale MD...
