    , Article Chromatographia ; Vol. 77, issue. 5-6 , 2014 , pp. 397-403 ; ISSN: 00095893 Bagheri, H ; Banihashemi, S ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
A rapid, convenient and reliable method for microextraction in packed syringe (MEPS) of the loop diuretic furosemide (FUR) in urine along with high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was developed. A nanocomposite based on silver nanoparticles/polyaniline (Ag-NPs/PANI) was synthesized and used as the MEPS packing material. This nanocomposite was prepared conveniently using interfacial polymerization without the need for any templates or functional dopants. The feasibility of the synthesized nanocomposites was examined by isolation of FUR from diluted urine samples. After extraction, the analyte was desorbed by 200 μL of methanol. It was then dried and the residue was dissolved in 30 μL...

    Abstract
Poly(amidoamine) dendrimer (PAMAM) was successfully functionalized by chlorosulfonic acid to form an strong ionic acid catalyst. The resulting polymeric catalyst was shown to be an efficient catalyst for the synthesis of 1,1-diacetyl from aldehydes under free solvent conditions at room temperature. Also, the deprotection of the resulting aldehydes was investigated under catalytic conditions. The Hammett acidity function of catalyst showed that catalyst is a strong Brønsted acid. Due to the multi-functional nature of PAMAM, the catalyst has high loading level of acidic protons

    Abstract
Ultrahigh-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE)/graphene nanocomposites with molecular weights as high as 3 × 106 g/mol were prepared via in situ polymerization using a bi-supported Ziegler-Natta catalytic system. Effects of [Al]/[Ti] molar ratio, temperature, monomer pressure, and polymerization time on productivity of the catalyst have been investigated. Increasing [Al]/[Ti] molar ratio from 128 to 320, increased productivity from 1667 g PE/mmol Ti.h to maximum value which was 2420 g PE/mmol Ti.h. Further [Al]/[Ti] ratio decreased the productivity. Reaction temperature effect investigation reveals that the optimal activity was obtained at 60°C. the polymerization productivity increases...

    Abstract
A novel basic poly(ionic liquid) (PIL) was synthesized by miniemulsion polymerization of ionic liquid monomer 1-ethyl-3-vinylimidazolium bromide [EVim][Br] which was cross-linked by ionic liquid cross-linker 1,4-butanediyl-3,3'-bis-l-vinylimidazolium dibromide (BVD). Exchange of bromide anions in PIL nanogel with hydroxide, produced a supported basic ionic liquid catalyst. The catalytic performances of PIL nanogel with a size of about 200. nm was evaluated in the synthesis of 4. H-benzo[. b]pyrans by multi-component reaction in water. The present protocol represents a simple, ecologically safe and cost-effective route to synthesize 4. H-benzo[. b]pyrans with high products yield

    Abstract
A new analytical formulation is presented to study the steady-state creep in short fiber composites using complex variable method. In this new approach, both the fiber and matrix creep at low stresses and temperatures. To analyze the crept fiber, a plane stress model was used. Important novelties of the present analytical method are determination of displacement rates with proper boundary conditions in the crept fibers and also using the complex variable method in creep analyzing. It is noteworthy that the method can be useful to study the creep behavior in polymeric matrix composites due to their high capability of creep. Moreover, another significant application of the present method is to...

    , Article Ceramics International ; Volume 39, Issue 7 , 2013 , Pages 8377-8384 ; 02728842 (ISSN) Naghibi, S ; Madaah Hosseini, H. R ; Faghihi Sani, M. A ; Sharif University of Technology
    2013
    Abstract
Colloidal stability of dextran (Dex) and Dex/poly ethylene glycol (PEG) coated TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) were investigated. The particles were successfully synthesized by a hydrothermal assisted sol-gel technique. The results of Ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) spectrophotometry showed that Dex and PEG additions during hydrothermal process (HTP) led to the formation of long-term (more than 60 days) stable colloids, while the addition of dispersants after HTP did not have a significant impact on the colloidal stability of NPs. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and selected area electron diffraction (SAED) analyses proved that PEG and/or Dex coated NPs had less crystallinity than the plain TiO2. Fourier...

The combination of plasma and chemically induced MAA graft polymerization was also attempted. The membranes were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and static contact angle (SCA)...

Polymeric mixed matrix membranes containing zeolites as a filler for gas separation applications: A review

    , Article Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry ; Volume 19, Issue 2 , 2013 , Pages 375-393 ; 1226086X (ISSN) Bastani, D ; Esmaeili, N ; Asadollahi, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2013
    Abstract
Polymeric membrane technology has received extensive attention in the field of gas separation, recently. However, the tradeoff between permeability and selectivity is one of the biggest problems faced by pure polymer membranes, which greatly limits their further application in the chemical and petrochemical industries. To enhance gas separation performances, recent works have focused on improving polymeric membranes selectivity and permeability by fabricating mixed matrix membranes (MMMs). Inorganic zeolite materials distributed in the organic polymer matrix enhance the separation performance of the membranes well beyond the intrinsic properties of the polymer matrix. This concept combines...
