- Abstract:
In this thesis a general model for simulation of solar cooler for domestic usage is developed. The model consists of 2 main parts: thermo-dynamical and economical calculations. The thermodynamic part consists of 4 sub models: a model for calculation of incoming solar radiation, cooling load demand calculation, the refrigeration cycle and the solar cycle with heat storage. As for hourly calculation of system performance part of the model produces the hourly received radiation data based on geographical position and orientation of the receiving surface. Base on results of the cooling load calculation for a 9 m2 studying room located in western part of Tehran, 1 TBR (3.516 kW) is chosen as cooling load demand. The cooling demand curve hourly changes was also estimated for the mentioned space. In refrigeration cycle part the ejector geometry was studied based on 1D steady state constant pressure mixing model whit aerodynamic throat. Hourly calculation of solar cycle for determination of temperature and load changes also was done based on iterative calculation with corrective initial condition. The life cycle saving and the payback time were considered as economical decision making parameters.Studying the system performance through different ejector geometries and thermo dynamical restrictions, the maximum refrigeration cycle performance was found to be 0.4 and the maximum refrigerant temperature was found to be 75℃.For the first run, system heat was supposed to be completely supplied by natural gas. Then solar cycle (collector and storage system) was added to system to carry part of the heat demand. The economical calculation was done over different system scenarios. The result shows that by now day prices none of the systems were economically acceptable. Then 2 assumptions were considered to near the economical calculations to an acceptable area: the combination of solar cooling and heating system and the decrease of cooling load over night to near the cooling supply curve to its demand curve. The results of the economical calculations for new conditions show that increasing the price of energy sectors (gas and electricity) by 2 factors and 50% decreasing of the price of solar collector as the main share of solar cycle initial investment will make the combined system feasible.
