- Electrical Impedance Tomography, (EIT), is one of the medical imaging technologies, similar to CT-Scan or X-Ray. It can also be used in industrial process monitoring. In this technique a reconstructed image of the inner part of a conductive subject can be made with an array of external electrodes which are connected to the boundary of the subject (e.g., body). It is inexpensive, fast, small and portable. In this imaging method, the image of electrical conductivity (or impedance) distribution of the internal part of a typical subject is reconstructed. The Image reconstruction process is done by injecting an accurate current into the boundary of the subject, measuring voltages around the boundary, and processing on acquired data with a software (e.g., MATLAB). In an EIT system, the measured boundary voltages depend nonlinearly on the conductivity distribu-tions, and a small noise in the measured data can cause huge errors in the estimated conductivity. A precision design, of EIT instrumentation plays an important and vital role in the final image quality. System of Electrical Impedance Tomography is developed with a precision instrumentation, a phantom with electrode array (acts as the EIT-sensors) and a PC with image reconstruction algorithm. The instrumentation of EIT contains a constant current source, voltage measuring part or system of data acquisition, electrode multiplexer and control unit. In fact the main problem in Electrical Impedance Tomography is the nonlinear Inverse problem. In this thesis I have implemented EIT on a real hardware. I have designed EIT hardware with its related soft¬ware, further, the implemented hardware of EIT has been tested successfully and the results show promising improvements.
