  7. Abstract:
  8. In this study, experimental results of Ahvaz produced water treatment obtained in ultrafiltration process using a polymeric membrane formed from Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) with 0.2 µm poreshave been reported. In this process the effects of different factors including transmembrane pressure (TMP), cross flow velocity (CFV) and feed temperature on permeate flux, membrane fouling resistance and TOC rejection was investigated. The results show that optimum conditionswere found in the range of TMP: 1.5-3 bar, CFV: 1-1.5 m/s and operating temperature 40°C.Results show that under optimum conditions the final permeate flux for produced water of Asmari outlet of Skimmer unit was 30 L/m2.h, and the fouling increasing was 57%. Final permeate flux and fouling increasing for Bangestan inlet and outlet of Skimmer unit were 125 L/m2.h, 54 L/m2.h, 91% and 87%, respectively. Likewise, final permeate flux for Asmari inlet of Skimmer unit, approached zero.Analyses of purified oily wastewater demonstrated the results of 100% oil and grease, 52% TOC, 100% TSS and 99% turbidity removal for Asmari outlet of Skimmer unit, 99% oil and grease, 74% TOC, 100% TSS and 99.99% turbidity rejection for Bangestan inlet of Skimmer unit, 99% oil and grease, and 68% TOC, 100% TSS and 99.99% turbidity removal for Bangestan outlet of Skimmer unit. Also, particle size of these permeate fluxes were less than 0.0007 µm. As it has been said because the final permeate flux for Asmari inlet of Skimmer unit was not in an acceptable value, no analysis was done.In general, performance of PAN membrane in treatment of produced water was satisfactory. Also, regarding the quality of these permeates they are appropriate to inject into oil wells
