Simulatin of Reinforcement Corrosion in Pozzolanic Concrete by Neural Network

  8. One of the most important factors of reducing durability of concrete structures is corrosion of steel reinforcement in concrete. In this paper, corrosion behavior of reinforcing steel in concrete is investigated in two different methods of protection based on neural network. As regard the first method, pozzolanic additives with optimized percentage were added to Concrete mix design (the percentage of these additives are 25% Weight of cement of fly ash, Micro silica with 10 percent of weight of cement and 25% of Blast Furnace slag weight of cement). In the second approach of protection, 0/5 percent weight of cement of ferrogard 901 inhibitor is added to basic mix concrete design and the effect of this inhibitor on corrosion behavior of reinforcing steel in concrete is shown by non-linear simulation. In this work, simulation based on neural network in two parts is implemented: 1) Data Acquisition in simulated marine conditions (3.5% NaCl), 2) Accelerating Test. The influence of time and different mixing methods on proportion of Corrosion of steel in concrete is illustrated among 10 years simulation and in this issue investigation of Corrosion Behavior of Reinforce could be used in different mixing methods. To implement simulation according to mentioned condition, the data were collected in 180 days and there was five days gap between each data gathering. It is noticeable the type of concrete was important to data collection. The obtained results of neural network and Feed Forward Back propagation were evaluated. Owning to difference starting time of corrosion for different concretes, according to ASTM-C876 standard, 3600 days was determined for simulation of Corrosion behavior of steel in concrete so that after this time, concrete was threshold intense corrosion.The result of simulation show among different made concretes, pozzolanic concrete with 10 percent weight of cement micro silica encompass the minimum amount of corrosion and this number is 0/4 µA/cm2 (during 3600 days simulation in marine condition)
