  7. Abstract:
  8. If we accept that there is a thing called “religious Science”, then we should accept that, all of its scientific elements should be based on, or be compatible with religion (in its general meaning). So, here is the question: Is there a particular “religious methodology” required for the “religious science”? Does “religious”, as an adjective also applies to methodology of science? Anyway, if we want to generate “religious science” based on religious foundations, we should characterize our position about “methodology of religious science”. Negligence of this important subject would cause a theoretical vacuum in discussions about religious science. In this thesis, after explaining some general issues about religion, as well as science and methodology of science, we try to explain and analyze two different approaches to the methodology of religious science: Dr. Golshani’s theory of religious science and Dr. Khosropanh’s Hikmai-Ejtihadi pattern on Humanities. So, after a detailed explanation of these two theories, we have tried to compare their approaches to this subject.
As far as their viewpoint about religious science is concerned, both of these theories are, nearly, in a same category. But they have some significant differences in their approaches to the methodology of religious science.
Dr. Golshani believes that, designing a specific methodological structure, under the title of “religious methodology”, would make some pointless, imposed restrictions on science. From his point of view, to generate religious science, we simply follow the usual methodology of science, which consists of experimentation plus theoretical work, but do it in the framework of Islamic worldview.
But, Dr. Khosropanah, in his proposed Hikmai-Ejtihadi pattern on behavioral and social Humanities, has tried to explain a kind of step-by-step process for making a methodological pattern, compatible with religion’s (Islam’s) foundations, which is based on generalized concept of Ejtihad, as a methodology, and “new Islamic Hikmat (Philosophy)”
