- Abstract:
- Nowadays, electricity has a substantial impact on various aspects of peoples’ life, which has captured the attention of electricity planners and operators. However, despite the expectation of customers to have access to an uninterrupted electricity, multitude of technical and economical challenges prevent to achieve fully reliable power supply. Due to especial structure of distribution systems and limited investment budgets, distribution systems play a critical role in delivering electricity to the customers. According to past statistical information, up to 80 percent of electricity outage originates from failure of distribution equipment or the matters relevant to distribution level. Therefore, to a great extent it makes sense to highlight the importance of distribution system enhancement. In the past few years, installing advanced monitoring and control devices have been deemed to enhance automation level of distribution systems, which imposes some costs on the systems. In this regard, installation of limited number of these devices in critical candidate locations to take advantages of reliability enhancement has been considered. Among the devices, fault indicator and remote controlled switch have been mainly taken into account. A fault indicator by speeding up the process of healthy sections maneuver and repairing faulted section reduces interruption time of customers, thereby improving reliability service. In addition, remote controlled switches provide system operator with the opportunity of conducting maneuvers for healthy load points in much less time. Concurrent placement of both devices would bring the system further advantages. Besides, the location of the manual switches highly affects the placement problem, which necessitates considering it into the placement problem. With all these into consideration, this project is aimed at presenting a proper model to optimally place fault indicator, remote controlled and manual switches in one problem. The proposed model with regarding the fault management procedure and mathematically formulating the procedure brings a tremendous achievement with respect to obtaining more optimal solution
