  8. Fundamental changes that has taken place in the restructured electricity industry require new methods to maintain the reliability of power system in the most possible economic way. Besides, power network maintenance processes has undeniable significance in promoting the desired level of reliability. Maintenance and repairs of electricity industry in generation units and power plants are more important than other parts of the power grid, because this part of the electric power infrastructure, compared to the other parts of the network, composes of more expensive equipments. Moreover, failures occurring in any of these parts cause a sharp decline in production leading to economic losses. Among the variety of power plants in the country, combined cycle power plants are very popular in the country's power system production due to high efficiency, quick installation and fast commissioning gas units. According to the general policies of article 44, power plants management has been privatized. Hence, construction and exploitation budget constraints related to power generation has been increasingly intensified. Therefore, managers of these units are forced to employ new approaches for asset management, leading to optimal use of the limited resources available, to improve the operation and maintenance of the units. Reliability centered maintenance (RCM) is one of the most successful strategies for equipments repair and maintenance. This strategy is a systematic method for scheduled maintenance which has provided standards and effective solutions to the power industry due to its variety of applications and successful implementations in various industries.The purpose of this project is to propose and implement an optimal maintenance method based on reliability centered maintenance. This process is done through a comprehensive review of the combined cycle power plant systems and by providing a mathematical model to show the effects of maintenance on the reliability of the system. Moreover, a novel method for determining the critical components of a power plant is presented. Finally, the proposed mathematical model is implemented on critical components and optimal maintenance program is extracted from it
