- Abstract:
- Tinnitus is known as a disorder in which a person is heard a sound without an external source. The tinnitus with brain disorder source is still unknown and in recent years, various experiments have proposed many hypotheses and tried to evaluate the structural differences of the brain in tinnitus with normal people. The combination of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) with ElectroEncephaloGram (EEG) provides a good evaluation system with good time resolution and fair spatial resolution. In this study, at first, based on a wide range of studies in the field of TMS on Tinnitus have been examined from the participants conditions and stimulation parameters aspects to suitable stimulation and record protocol is proposed, which is considered to be the innovation of this research. According to the assessment, TMS with a frequency of 1 Hz and intensity of 110% of the rest Motor Threshold (rMT) are performed in the LeftTemProparietal (LTP) in the rest state, and simultaneously the EEG signal is recorded to investigate the short-term effects. In the following, we introduce the appropriate methods for TMS-EEG signal processing. In this regard, methods such as wavelet transformation and Independent Component Analysis (ICA) are presented. Two types of manual and semi-automatic ICA have been used to remove artifact signals. Wavelet transform has been used to calculate the average energy of the EEG frequency bands. In the end, the results of the experiment were evaluated in terms of the feasibility study of the proposed method for a normal and patient. In this regard, the comparison of the average energy before and after the stimulation between the normal and the patient and the comparison of the TMS-Evoked Potential's components for normal and patient has been made.
