- Abstract:
- Because of the importance of the issue of poverty, in this study, we introduce and copute aspects & dimensions of multidimensional poverty index. The object of this thesis is studing the trend of changes in Iranian households’ welfare during the years 2005 through 2015 and recognizing the economic and social poor households’ characteristics. There are two methods that are used to computing MPI (Multidimensional Poverty Index). One of them is standard method that is given unique weight to each dimension, the other one is questionnaire method which is asked poverty experts to set proper weight to each dimension. Knowing how poverty index (income & mpi) changes, can help policy makers to recognize poor people. Therefore it is attempted to choose new aspects in addition to standard aspects of mpi which is compaired to income poverty in order to expand explaining dimensions. The results showed that the trend of mpi over a period of eleven years was ascending. The share of income dimension was grater than the others. There was also the fact that the contribution of deprivation in ability to purchase necessary nutritions had an incrising trend, so that in 2015, had the greatest contibutions among the other aspects.(48.2%). In fact the contribution of deprivation in suppling calorie and protein needed in , increased from 0 to 31% and 23.9% to 25.9%,respectively. In this project had been used Logit model which was investigated the effect of five economic and social urban and rural households’ characteristics on the probability of being multidimensionaly poor. The result showed that there was a positive correlation between the probability of beenig multidimensionaly poor and the household size. There was also a negative correlation between the probability of beenig multidimensionaly poor and the educated and employed head of households
