- Steel structures are one of the most common structures in the world. One of the main parts of these structures is the connections, which are divided into three main categories of fixed, semi-rigid and joints, according to
the different criteria provided in the guidelines and codes. Perhaps the main challenge facing civil engineers has been designing efficient connections against lateral loads (seismic loads, wind loads). This issue has received more and more attention from designers due to the poor performance of the fasteners against lateral loads. Investigating and evaluating semi-rigid connections as one of the main part of steel structures against various loads, especially lateral loads, has always been of interest to researchers and scientist.In this research, It is aimed to achieve a new semi-rigid connection that has optimal behavior and performance under different loading conditions compared to common semi-rigid connections. The method of conducting studies in this research is numerical modeling using finite element software. To achieve this target and to gain an in-depth understanding of the parameters affecting the performance of semi-rigid connections, four common semi-rigid connections have been selected in the first stage and numerical modeling has been modeled in finite element software after extracting geometric parameters and connection properties. The results of this section are used as primary criteria for defining a new semi-rigid connection. After performing various comparisons between the results, two new semiconductor connections have been defined and finally the behavior of common connections and two new semi-rigid connections have been evaluated based on three criteria of hardness - rigidity, strength and deformation. Finally, M2 connection has been introduced as a new semi-rigid connection that has more optimal behavior and performance under static and cyclic loading conditions. In order to evaluate the accuracy of modeling and vi validation of numerical studies, two semi-rigid connections, which their laboratory test results were available, have been modeled by using finite element software, and the results were compared and validated with the available results from the laboratory tests - Keywords:
