- Abstract:
- Preservation of historical monuments is a very important issue for future generations. The importance of this issue is doubled when we know that most of these buildings are traditionally built and do not have a single structure to withstand seismic loads. One of such buildings in our country is Bam Citadel, which was completely destroyed as the oldest brick building in the world during the 2003 Bam earthquake. In this project, we will try to find a model that can determine the structural behavior of the historical dome of Soltanieh for engineers in a case study. This building is a brick dome with a height of 48.5 meters and a diameter of 24.4 meters from the seventh century , which is unique in its kind. The results of the model will be more accurate by finding the mechanical properties of materials and soil of this building. Then the current damage will be added to the model. According to the environmental vibration test on this building, it is possible to calibrate the model of closed components in the existing conditions .With such a model, a plan for the improvement of this building will be presented according to the reconstruction of similar buildings such as the Hagia Sophia Mosque. The effect of each improvement method will be considered by updating the finite element model of the improved structure. In such a plan, the use of all new methods, including the use of FRP materials and metal jackets, etc., will be feasible, but an attempt will be made to make at least some changes in the building in order to preserve the originality of the building. The plan will also include the foundation, and asymmetrical foundation meetings will be reviewed, and plans will be presented to reconstruct the foundation as needed. Finally, the improved structural design is validated with a final finite element model and compared with the results of the modeled structure without seismic improvement, and the rate of increase in strength and costs of this improvement are investigated
