  7. Abstract:
  8. The challenges of urbanization have been the focus of researchers since the past. With the expansion of urbanization and massive migration of people from villages to cities, these challenges became more important in our country. These issues, which exist in many other countries in a serious manner, are discussed in the branch of urban economy in the world. This thesis is arranged in three chapters, in each of which one of the aspects related to urban economy and housing is discussed. In the first chapter, the effects of the construction of Mehr housing on the value of nearby residential properties are investigated using difference-in-difference method. It is shown that the construction of Mehr housing leads to 11% decrease in the value of nearby residential properties compared to other properties in the city, and this negative effect is smaller in neighborhoods that the construction of the school has been done more quickly. In the second chapter, the effects of construction of Mehr housing on employment during the years 1384 to 1398 are examined. The results of this chapter show that the construction of Mehr housing in each city leads to an increase in employment in the construction sector by 5 people per season and 230 person-hours per week, but the effect of construction of Mehr housing on total employment is not significant. As a result, due to the construction of Mehr housing, the transition of employment from other sectors to construction sector has been formed. In the third chapter, the economic and distributional effects of dam construction on downstream and upstream villages have been investigated. The results of this chapter show that every ten percent increase in the total volume of dams built in the upstream of each village leads to an average increase of 0.5 percent in the rent in agricultural lands of the village. Also, the population of the villages upstream of the dam will decrease by 0.4% and the population of the villages downstream of the dam will increase by 0.3%
