  4. Abstract:
  5. This paper presents a new discontinuous damage model based on the interface thick level set method for modeling the fiber bridging effects on fatigue delaminaton propagation in composites. To incorporate the bridging effects under fatigue loading a modified Paris relation proposed in Yao (Compos Struct 176:556–564, 2017) is employed in developed model. This requires to define the fracture energy as a function of the crack length which is computed using the level set method. The proposed 3D model is validated against experimental and theoretical data which proves the accuracy of obtained results. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature
