- Abstract:
- Imidazopyridine, as a pharmaceutical intermediate, finds extensive applications in the pharmaceutical industry, particularly in the production of various antiviral, anticancer, and other bioactive compounds. Currently, the synthesis of this compound is predominantly carried out through batch methods. However, the use of advanced catalysts, such as metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), due to their porous structure and high surface area, offers significant potential for enhancing the efficiency of reactions in medicinal chemistry. In this study, the synthesis of imidazopyridine derivatives was investigated using the UIO-66@Fe2O3 catalyst in a batch system. Various reaction parameters, including temperature, reaction time, and catalyst dosage, were examined to optimize the synthesis conditions. The results demonstrated that the UIO-66@Fe2O3 catalyst, by providing favorable reaction conditions, led to improved yield and selectivity of the reaction. Ultimately, the comparison of the obtained results revealed that using this catalyst, compared to catalyst-free conditions, enhances the synthesis efficiency of imidazopyridine and holds potential for applications in pharmaceutical industrial processes
