    LBM simulation of electro-osmotic flow (EOF) in nano/micro scales porous media with an inclusive parameters study

    Abstract
    In this paper, we present our results about simulation of 2D-EOF in Nano/Micro scales porous media using lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) in micro-channel for EOF. The high efficient numerical code use strongly high nonlinear Poisson Boltzmann equation to predicate behavior of EOF in complex geometry. The results are developed with precisely investigation of several effective parameters on permeability of EOF, such as geometry (channel height and number and location of charge), external electric field, thickness of Debye length (ionic concentration), and zeta potential.     Caching gain in wireless networks with fading: A multi-user diversity perspective

    Abstract
    We consider the effect of caching in wireless networks where fading is the dominant channel effect. First, we propose a one-hop transmission strategy for cache-enabled wireless networks, which is based on exploiting multi-user diversity gain. Then, we derive a closed-form result for throughput scaling of the proposed scheme in large networks, which reveals the inherent trade-off between cache memory size and network throughput. Our results show that substantial throughput improvements are achievable in networks with sources equipped with large cache size. We also verify our analytical result through simulations

    In this paper, we propose utilizing multiple optical phase conjugate (OPC) modules along fiber spans, in order to improve the performance of coherent optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (CO-OFDM) communication systems in long-haul fiber-optic channels. The role of OPC in CO-OFDM systems is investigated by formulating the four-wave mixing (FWM) process generated along a CO-OFDM with two and three OPCs. Analytical results reveal that increasing the number of OPC modules reduces the average FWM power along the transmission link and as a result mitigates the degrading effect of interaction between amplified spontaneous emission noise and FWM.     Abstract
    A numerical model based on the boundary element method is proposed for the sloshing of a flowing liquid in a three-dimensional tank. Assuming a mean flow in the tank in addition to a perturbation flow, the nonlinear boundary conditions of the liquid free-surface are linearized. Using the boundary element method along with the modal analysis technique a reduced order model is obtained which is used to calculate the fundamental sloshing frequencies and modes in the tank with an inlet and outlet.     The objective of this paper is to present some novel insights for solving a second stage creep problem in metal matrix composites. First, a new analytical approach is developed for obtaining some unknowns in second stage creep of short fiber composites under an applied axial load.     We propose an exactly solvable waveguide lattice incorporating an inhomogeneous coupling coefficient. This structure provides classical analogs to the squeezed number and squeezed coherent intensity distribution in quantum optics where the propagation length plays the role of a squeezed amplitude. The intensity pattern is obtained in a closed form for an arbitrary distribution of the initial beam profile. The current study presents an analytical model for a new Hybrid Thermo Piezoelectric micro actuator based on the combination of piezoelectric and thermal actuation mechanisms.     Abstract
    A general model for superconducting synchronous machines in which the rotor can be considered as a magnetic or a nonmagnetic material is proposed and analytically investigated. Analytical equations for magnetic flux in different regions of the machine have been developed. Furthermore, nonlinear magnetization of the iron core is studied. In order to solve the equations in the case of the iron saturation, a reiterative algorithm is proposed. Finite-element simulation has also been performed to verify the equations and the proposed algorithm. The obtained analytical results show good agreement with finite-element method results

    In this paper, numerical and analytical approaches are presented to evaluate the effect of catalyst loading gradient in the catalyst layer (CL) of a polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel cell. The model is developed based on agglomerate catalyst and accounts for reactant spices and charge (ion and electron) transport in the cathode side of a PEM fuel cell.     This article presents a new model for pricing a new product considering a skimming pricing strategy in the presence of competition. We consider two periods for price setting, including skimming and an economy period. The problem is to decide on skimming as well as economy price, in order to maximize total profit. The derived model is a non-linear programming model and we have analyzed the structure and properties of an optimal solution to develop a solution method. In this scenario, some secondary users (SUs) are considered in a primary WLAN such that SUs cooperate with primary users (PUs) in transmitting the primary packets.     In this paper the impact of Static Synchronous Series Compensator (SSSC) on the impedance calculated by distance relay is investigated. Analytical results are presented and verified by detailed simulations. Six different phase to phase and phase to ground measuring units of the distance relay are simulated to resemble the behavior of the relay.     To determine the curvature of the exit profile in the extrusion process of non-symmetrical flat dies, the dead metal zone profile was predicted using the energy minimization method. The dead zone is a natural non-linear die for the process and it is pragmatic to use this non-linear die to estimate the value of the exit profile curvature and the required bearing length for reducing this deviation.     Abstract
    In this paper, the nonlinear oscillation of a pendulum wrapping and unwrapping on two cylindrical bases is studied, and an analytical solution is obtained using the multiple scales method. The equation of motion is derived based on an energy conservation technique. By applying the perturbation method to the differential equation, the nonlinear natural frequency of the system is calculated, along with its time response. Analytical results are compared with numerical findings and good agreement is found. The effect of large amplitude and radius of cylinders on system frequency is evaluated.
