    Analytical and numerical biaxial bending analysis of deepwater riser due to vortex-induced vibration

    Abstract
    Previous studies of analysis and prediction of marine risers responses usually focus on vortex-induced vibration (VIV) of cross-flow (CF) direction rather than in-line (IL). Recent studies show that responses of IL direction tend to dominate in some cases. Responses of long riser due to biaxial bending of IL and CF VIV are investigated. Closed-form formulas are derived for estimating maximum normal stress due to the biaxial moment of CF/IL VIV and relations for estimating biaxial stress using CF values are presented.     Abstract
    We propose and analyze a circularly polarized slot antenna built on a ferrite substrate which is saturated normal to its plane and metalized on both sides. The antenna is built by etching a circular slot in the top metal layer. The antenna operates in the frequency range where the effective permeability of ferrite is negative. An accurate analytical model is derived for the antenna by solving the integral equation for the electric field on the circular slot.     Abstract
    This letter discusses the surface-reconstruction-induced self-twisting behavior of Si100 nanobelts and nanowires (NWs) with rectangular cross section. Giving a thorough physical interpretation, we explain the reason behind this phenomenon and present a continuum-based model. It is revealed that these structures can self-assemble into both right- and left-handed helicoids depending on their crystal arrangements. More specifically, for NWs with the same number of layers in each of their cross sections directions, two distinct values of torsion angle are possible for each of right- and left-handed twisted morphologies.     In non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) systems, serving multiple users in shared resource blocks can allow untrusted users to overhear the messages of other users.     This brief proposes event-Triggered rules for stabilizing the equilibrium point of a class of nonlinear systems, on the basis of indefinite Lyapunov theory. Unlike the traditional event-Triggered control methods, which have been constructed based on the Lyapunov theory, the time-derivative of the corresponding Lyapunov function can be positive in some time periods by using the proposed event-Triggered rules.     This paper provides a feasibility study on a low cost system called Hydrokinetic Wells turbine for surface wave energy conversion without using plenum chambers. The elimination of the plenum chamber and its complicated valve systems can reduce the expenses of wave energy conversion up to 23%.The feasibility process were done for high and low frequency conditions. For the low frequency waves, we offer the 300 rpm angular velocity as an optimum selection for further studies. Classic architectures usually use either the Garbled Circuit (GC) or the Goldreich-Micali-Wigderson (GMW) protocols.     In-motion alignment of a strapdown inertial navigation system, during slow maneuvers, is studied. Terrestrial velocity is fed back to the navigation system to estimate and compensate for the navigation errors. Observability of the errors is analyzed since the integrated navigation system is not fully observable.     In this paper by solving Dirac equation, we present an analytical solution to calculate energy levels and wave functions of mono- and bilayer graphene quantum dots. By supposing circular quantum dots, we solve Dirac equation and obtain energy levels and band gap with relations in a new closed and practical form. The energy levels are correlated with a radial quantum number and radius of quantum dots. In addition to monolayer quantum dots, AA- and AB-stacked bilayer quantum dots are investigated and their energy levels and band gap are calculated as well.
