    Person authentication based on only the name, password or person identification number is not secured enough. In recent years researchers have focused on human physiological and behavioral parameters, because these parameters are more unique and human-specific than traditional ones. This approach of person authentication is usually called biometric authentication. Signature is the most commonly used behavioral biometric which is investigated in two ways of online and offline by researchers.     Objective: Spine kinematics, kinetics, and trunk muscle activities were evaluated during different stages of a fatigue-induced symmetric lifting task over time.     In this paper the Unsupervised Active Learning Method (UALM), a novel clustering method based on the Active Learning Method (ALM) is introduced. ALM is an adaptive recursive fuzzy learning algorithm inspired by some behavioral features of human brain functionality. UALM is a density-based clustering algorithm that relies on discovering densely connected components of data, where it can find clusters of arbitrary shapes.     Opposing trends of geometrical parameters in maximisation of micro-ring resonator quality factor

    Opposing trends of geometrical parameters in minimisation of bending loss and thus in maximising the quality factor are briefly discussed for micro-ring resonators. It is shown that, while the quality factor of low order modes is an oscillatory function of geometrical parameters, the quality factor of high order modes is a monotonic function. The former has discrete pairs of optimum inner and outer ring radii which maximises the quality factor. In contrast, the quality factor of the latter has no local maximum. Introduction of slight inhomogeneities does not change the overall behaviour of the quality factor but can increase its overall level when the refractive index of the ring region... 

    Small signal circuit modeling for semiconductor self-assembled quantum dot laser

    Abstract
    In this paper, for the first time, we present a small signal circuit model of InGaAs/GaAs self-assembled quantum dot (QD) laser, based on the standard rate equations. By using the presented model, modulation response of QD laser is investigated. The simulation results show that retarded carrier relaxation due to phonon bottleneck degrades the modulation and impulse responses of a QD laser. It is shown that modulation bandwidth is increased with larger inhomogeneous broadening. Also, our model describes the effects of carrier recombinations inside and outside of a QD region, on the modulation response behavior

Here, we consider a coevolutionary model where the simultaneous spreading is described by a two-pathogen susceptible-infected-recovered model in an either synergistic or competitive manner. To this goal, firstly the best material parameters of hyperelastic strain energy density functions consisting of the Mooney–Rivlin, Ogden, invariants, and general exponential models were derived for the simple tension experimental data.
