    Polymeric like carbon films prepared from liquid gas and the effect of nitrogen

    Abstract
    Polymeric like carbon (PLC) films are grown by a capacitance coupled RF-PECVD on the grounded electrode at room temperature from liquid gas (40% propane and 60% butane) in two regimes with nitrogen and without nitrogen gas. Films are characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), atomic force microscopy (AFM), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) absorption and Raman spectroscopy. The result of FTIR analyses indicates that more than 90% of hydrogen atoms are bonded to carbon with sp 3 hybridization. The abundance of CH 3 is more than that of CH 2 and this one is more than that of CH for carbon with sp 3 hybridization in these films. The C 1s line of the XPS spectra is deconvoluted to...

    The present study aims to convert waste cooking oil (WCO) into biodiesel via phosphomolybdic acid (H3PMo12O40, PMA) supported on Clinoptilolite as a novel green acid catalyst through an electrolysis procedure. The prepared catalysts were characterized by XRD, FTIR, FESEM, EDS, Elemental map, and TEM analyses. The effect of four independent variables on biodiesel yield including methanol to oil molar ratio (6:1–14:1), catalyst weight (2–5 wt%), time (3–5 h), and voltage (15–35 V) was optimized and evaluated by the response surface methodology (RSM) employing central composite design (CCD).     Ca-doped Ni–Mg–Mn spinel ferrites with compositions of Ni0·5Mg0·3Mn0.2CaxFe2-xO4 (x = 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5) were prepared via sol-gel auto-ignition technique. TGA/DTA, FTIR, XRD, FESEM, and VSM were employed to evaluate the thermal, spectral, structural, morphological, and magnetic features of Ca-doped Ni–Mg–Mn spinel ferrites. TGA/DTA curves show the weight loss in the sample. This weight loss was attributed to the oxidation and decomposition of the sample contents at a temperature of 500 °C.     For the efficient removal of some anionic dyes, a novel adsorbent was developed. The adsorbent was prepared by coating a synthetic polymer on magnetite nanosphere surface as a magnetic carrier. The synthesized nano-adsorbent was fully characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), vibrating sample magnetometer, X-ray diffractometer, scanning electron microscope, and transmission electronic microscopy measurements.     The synergistic effect of nano titanium dioxide (10 and 30 nm) and nano silver (10 nm) as antibacterial agents were investigated on UV curable clear coating. Antibacterial and physical-mechanical properties of coating were optimized using experimental design in response surface method. Twenty different samples of nano Ag and nano TiO2 were prepared in this method. Antibacterial properties on Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli) were investigated.     Abstract
    A drug delivery system based on poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) hydrogels containing ibuprofen-loaded poly (lactic acid) (PLA) microspheres was developed to improve the release kinetics of this model drug. Gamma-irradiation and freeze-thawing were applied to prepare poly (vinyl alcohol) hydrogels. Properties and morphology of these composite hydrogels were investigated using FTIR, DSC, and SEM. In vitro release indicated that entrapment of the microspheres into the PVA hydrogels causes a reduction in both the release rate and the initial burst effect. PLA microspheres entrapped into the PVA hydrogels showed more suitable controlled release kinetics for drug delivery

    Hydrolysis of titanium isopropoxide alcoholic solution has been used to prepare the crystallized TiO2 nanoparticles at low temperature. Concentration ratio was used to control the pathway of sol-gel process and change the physical characteristics of TiO2 nanopowders. The crystallinity, morphology and size of aged TiO2 nanopowders were studied by X-ray diffraction and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM).     ZnFe2O4 nanoparticles have been successfully prepared through a controlled microwave-assisted co-precipitation. X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM) were used for the structural, morphological and magnetic investigation of the product.     In this study hydroxyapatite (HA)/zirconia/alumina composite coatings on titanium metal was carried out using Sol-Gel dip coating and calcination process.     A sonochemistry-based synthesis method was used to produce nanocrystalline nickel oxide powder with ∼20 nm average crystallite diameter from Ni(OH)2 precursor. Ultrasound waves were applied to the primary solution to intensify the Ni(OH)2 precipitation. Dried precipitates were calcined at 320 °C to form nanocrystalline NiO particles.     In this study, we attempt to synthesize novel acrylated agarose (ACAG)-based hydrogels with three different crosslinking densities. Acrylate groups were inserted onto agarose (AG) backbone through homogeneous reaction of acrylic monomers with AG backbone.     In the current study, for the first time, photochemical facile green synthesis of salep capped silver nano-wedges was reported via the wet chemical synthesis procedure. Sunlight-UV as an available reducing agent caused mild reduction of silver ions to the silver nano-wedges.     Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NOx by NH3 over a series of Mn–M/Z catalysts (M = Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, and Z = the ZSM-5 Zeolite) synthesized by wet impregnation method was investigated. Mn–Fe/Z, Mn–Co/Z, and Mn–Cu/Z catalysts exhibited approximately 100 % NOx conversion over a wide temperature range (200–360 °C) in a defined atmospheric condition, which was noticeably greater than that of Mn–Cr/Z (340–360 °C).
