Slow switching and authority of self-knowledge
, Article Procedia - Social and Behavioral Sciences ; Volume 32 , 2012 , Pages 443-449 ; 18770428 (ISSN) ; Sharif University of Technology
2012
Abstract
Based on content externalism, the question of whether self-knowledge is authoritative or not has launched a real controversy in the philosophy of mind. Boghossian proposed slow switching argument in defense of incompatibility of the two views. This argument has been criticized by some philosophers through different approaches. Vahid is one of them. He claimed that Boghossian's argument appeals to some controversial assumptions without which it cannot achieve its conclusion. In this article, I criticize Vahid's response to slow switching argument and show that self-knowledge in Vahid's response differs in having authority and therefore in function from that of Boghossian

, Article International Journal of the Humanities ; Volume 9, Issue 5 , 2011 , Pages 247-256 ; 14479508 (ISSN) ; Gohari, O ; Gohari, N ; Ghaziani, G ; Sharif University of Technology
Abstract
The paper investigates the deep structure of the human mind by analyzing multiple intelligences theory. Regarding serious critiques proposed by a number of cognitive neuroscientists, psychologists, philosophers, and educational theorists (i.e. Sternberg 1983, 1991; Eysenck 1994; Scarr 1985; Klein 1998; Demetriou and Kazi 2006; Demetriou, Mouyi, and Spanoudis 2010, among others), it seems that the different types of intelligence introduced by Gardner (1983) have a shared feature. The authors believe that this particular shared feature can be counted as the key point of the underlying system of human knowledge. Since human cognition may be analyzed by means of universal structures of the mind,...

Abstract
The article offers a different interpretation of Antony Flew's views about the problem of religious language. This interpretation shows that Flew's ideas can be perceived as a critique of belief in the content of religious statements, rather than a critique of their meaning. By interpreting his thought in this way, it is clear that Flew's approach is not new and we can find similar ideas in the history of theological thought. In connection with this interpretation, the authors analyze prevalent theories related to this problem in order to identify the principal doctrines used to find a new solution. In this regard, the new potential solution is assessed in order to complete the approach...

Heterogeneous Knowledge Graph-Based Drug Repurposing Using Graph Convolutional Networks
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Rabiee, Hamid Reza (Supervisor)
Abstract
Drug repurposing, which means finding a drug for a disease among approved drugs, is a solution for decreasing drug development time and cost. However, drug repurposing suggestions have been serendipitous so far. Therefore, proposing a systematic method for drug repurposing is crucial in terms of cost and human life savings. Recently, biological network-based methods for drug repurposing have had promising results among computational methods. But,these methods have some limitations too. First, the size and variety of data used in these methods are limited. Second, heterogeneous data is either not used or converted to homogeneous data leading to information loss in these methods. Finally, not...

Abstract
In today’s methodical corporate world, processes have been recognized as valuable organizational knowledge assets. Situational Method Engineering (SME) processes are considered particularly valuable because of their effectiveness in building context-specific software processes for developing efficient software systems; thus, they indirectly affect all software-dependent organizational knowledge assets, including organizational processes. It is therefore logical to deduce that managing SME knowledge would improve the efficiency of both SME and organizational processes. Unfortunately, existing SME processes suffer from weaknesses that are rooted in loss of knowledge within method engineering...

Abstract
An important reason to prefer dependency parsing over classical phrased based methods, especially for languages such as Persian, with the property of being “free word order”, is that this particular property has a negative impact on the accuracy of conventional parsing methods. In Persian, some words such as adverbs can freely be moved within a sentence without affecting its correctness or meaning. In this paper, we illustrate the robustness of dependency parsing against this particular problem by training two well-known dependency parsers, namely MST Parser and Malt Parser, using a Persian dependency corpus called Dadegan. We divided the corpus into two separate parts including only...

, Article Procedia Computer Science, 5 March 2015 through 6 March 2015 ; Volume 62 , 2015 , Pages 236-244 ; 18770509 (ISSN) ; Habibi, J ; Alidoosti, R ; Parvizi Mosaed, A ; Bahrami, M ; Sharif University of Technology
Abstract
Nowadays, knowledge is the key to success in all software engineering processes. This valuable knowledge, obtained through analysis, design, development, and maintenance processes of the system, should be saved and reused in designing and developing current and similar systems. Using pre-existing knowledge is a practical approach which reduces design complexity, improves software architecture design and manages software quality. In this paper, we describe an approach to create architecture design knowledge using a hierarchical structure of architectural styles based on quality attributes. Knowledge is most importance asset of our approach that reuses similar domains, correlates architectures...

Abstract
Method Engineering (ME) is based on the notion that no two software development projects are identical, and hence, the same development process is never executed twice. The need therefore arises for custom-built software development methodologies that are tailored to fit the specific project situation at hand, thus giving rise to the various Situational Method Engineering (SME) approaches currently in use. A process pattern is a description of a recurring development process fragment that can be used as a building block for engineering development processes. Software development process patterns are extensively used in SME, mainly as process components assembled together to form bespoke...

Towards A Framework for Knowledge Acquisition in Decision Support System in Software Architecture Domain
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Habibi, Jafar (Supervisor) ; Abtahi, Ebrahim (Co-Advisor)
Abstract
Making Decision about software architecture design is a multi-criteria problem which depends on different factors. One of the main problems in software architecture is the high cost and complexity of Decision making which is rooted in knowledge vaporiza-tion. In fact current developers of the system are not necessarily the primary designers of the architect. Thus, the system cannot be understood without the knowledge about the history of the architecture. Additionally, a good organization of knowledge will be helpful in terms of knowledge reuse and best practices which leads to low cost of architecture.Due to the importance of knowledge in software architecture, knowledge acquisition as well...
