Distributed Verifiable Computing: Algorithms and Analysis

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rahimi, Ali (Author) ; Maddah Ali, Mohammad Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Zero knowledge proofs allow a person (prover) to convince another person (verifier) that he has performed a specific computation on a secret data correctly, and has obtained a true answer, without having to disclose the secret data. QAP (Quadratic Arithmetic Program) based zkSNARKs (zero knowledge Succinct Non-interactive Argument of Knowledge) are a type of zero knowledge proof. They have several properties that make them attractive in practice, e.g. verifier's work is very easy. So they are used in many areas such as Blockchain and cloud computing. But yet prover's work in QAP based zkSNARKs is heavy, therefore, it may not be possible for a prover with limited processing resource to run...

The Necessity of Considering Technology in Philosophical Reflections about Science

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ariana, Farhad (Author) ; Taqavi, Mostafa (Supervisor)
    Abstract
One of the most important characteristics of us humans is that we are homofaber beings, and with the help of technology we transform our living conditions, and perceptions of ourselves and the world. Technology, then, plays and important role in all branches of philosophy, and especially in philosophy of science. Without, technological instruments, little scientific research can be found that can be accomplished. Many of the processes involved in scientific researches, such as experimentation and measurement, are rooted in technology. This thesis aims to examine how technology impacts science. Philosophers and historians of science have usually paid little attention to the influence of...

Investigating Factors Affecting User Innovation in Mobile Phone Platforms

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Motamed Zargar, Sajjad (Author) ; Khalili Nasr, Arash (Supervisor) ; Isaei, Mohammad Taghi (Supervisor)
    Abstract
One of the main issues of business world is competition and competitiveness, and this cannot be happened unless one company absorb new ideas and innovations. Based on what scholars mentioned, companies should utilize users instead of professionals in order to create new innovations, and this is due to that users have better understanding of what users want. As a result, in the mobile platforms, platform owners need to know how to invoke users to create more innovative apps. In this research we were into finding important matters that increase number of innovation of users. We saw that lead-userness, toolkit support, work method autonomy, knowledge sharing, and modularity have an impact on...

Managing Mega Project Construction Project with Method of Cost Management Approach (Case Study on the world’s fourth Mega Project)

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mohaghegh, Sina (Author) ; Rafie, Majid (Supervisor) ; Khalou, Alireza (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
One of the features of a project is its uniqueness, if two sets of activities are the same neither of them will longer be included in the project definition. A method in two projects with the same nature may yield inverse results of each other. Therefore, it is necessary to study the parameters affecting the project carefully before any action. So far, some research has been conducted in this area and it has been tried to perform case study on qualitative and quantitative parameters of the project. By investigating a number of common factors in most civil engineering projects, especially megaprojects, the present study attempts to identify and examine exquisite and effective parameters and...

Review of Changes and Effectiveness of Boundary Objects Used as a Tool for Creating Common Understanding Between Different Teams in Software Development: a Case Study of Daneshgar co

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Foroughi, Saeed (Author) ; Kiamehr, Mehdi (Supervisor)
    Abstract
One of the biggest challenges in software companies is reaching a common understanding between staff members across the organization with different expertise. If not solved, this problem could cause other organizational problems, such as project failures, lack of innovation in new products, organizational conflict, and even interppersonal conflicts between employees and/or managers. Recent research has shown that boundary objects can help decrease knowledge gaps between workers. This research reviews boundary objects’ properties, life cycle, and effects by investigating some boundary objects in a startup software company. This research’s goal is to increase the knowledge about boundary...

Class Attention Map Distillation In Semantic Segmentation

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Karimi Bavandpour, Nader (Author) ; Kasaei, Shohreh (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Semantic segmentation is the tash of labeling each pixel of an input image. It is one of the main problems in computer vision and plays an important role in scene understanding. State of the art methods of solving it are based on Convolutional Neural Networhs (CNNs). While many real world tasks like autodriving cars and robot navigation require fast and lightweight models, CNNs inherently tend to give beter accuracy when they are deeper and bigger, and this has raised interest in designing compact networks. Knowledge distillation is one of the popular methods of training compact networhs and helps to transfer a big and powerful network’s knowledge to a small and compact one. In this research...

A Knowledge Oriented Framework to Enable New Service Development Using Axiomatic Design Theory: Focusing on Hotel Business Models

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hasanpour Esfahlan, Elnaz (Author) ; Fattahi Valilai, Omid (Supervisor)

As the concept of new service development encounters both business model structures and the required analysis for validation, the thesis has used the axiomatic design theory to evaluate the required service elements. Axiomatic Design framework as a scientific base for every type of design consists of 4 domains. The first domain named customer domain is the starting point at this research. In order to be prepared for applying in a real case study, customer domain is investigated and analyzed through a business model Canvas with nine building blocks covering all necessary and effective domains in a...

Automatic Extraction of Persian Named Entities’ Knowledge Graph from Web Sources

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Azami, Hamid (Author) ; Izadi, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Knowledge graphs are structured data sources which are widely used in the information process techniques. There are general and specialized knowledge graphs out there. These graphs will be used as the kernel of future search engines. Due to the lack of proper and tested Persian knowledge graphs, a method for knowledge graph extraction from news sources of the web has been introduced in this research.A knowledge graph extraction system from the unstructured web sources has been implemented in this research. In order to achieve this, a training dataset for the classifier was first extracted from semi-structured data of Wikipedia pages. At that time sentences were extracted from the...

Designing a Model for Assessing the Success of Information Systems Development Projects in Developing Companies from Knowledge Management Perspective

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Farzaneh, Mandana (Author) ; Isaai, Mohammad Taghi (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The unprecedented growth of information and communication technologies has an enormous impact on the productivity of organizations and influences all aspects of organizational operations. However, the absence of research which is required to guiding information systems development through process view and from developing companies' perspective, is evident. Moreover, due to the time interval between the development of an information system in a wide range of customer organizations and due to the intangibility of the information system, it is hardly possible to understand the success of development process. On the other hand, in most information systems development companies, the process of...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Shahbazi, Reza (Author) ; Khaloo, Alireza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The present survey study aims at investigating and comparing risk indices in highway and freeway projects implemented through Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) and Design-Bid-Build (DBB) delivery methods. In this regard, two distinct questionnaires were developed (one for BOT and one for DBB delivery method) and interviews were conducted, too. The questionnaires were, then, sent to the target population, i.e. all the experts and agents involved in highway and freeway construction projects implemented through either BOT or DBB method. The collected data were then submitted to Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), version 22.00, to be analyzed. The results showed that risks had generally...
