    A fully analog side-band cancellation technique in radio-frequency transmitters

    Abstract
    In this paper, a new fully analog technique is proposed by means of which the adverse effects of frequency dependent gain/phase errors in quadrature transmitters are suppressed. Two separate phase and gain mismatch cancellation loops are implemented which search for the minimum side-band component. A new sign detection method is also introduced which makes sure the direction of the loop is correct. Analytical models and mathematical derivations have been presented which corroborates the circuit implementation.     Abstract
    This paper presents the theoretical introduction and experimental validation of the "Class-J2 Mode Power Amplifier," which provides higher efficiency and output power compared with conventional class-J mode counterpart. This mode of operation is realized by injection of the second-harmonic current to drain node of a class-J power amplifier (PA) to reduce the 45° phase shift between drain current and voltage signals. Similar to class-J PAs, the second-harmonic impedance of class-J2 PAs is purely reactive to simplify the design of the output matching network.     Abstract
    This study is concerned with the problem of harmonic disturbance rejection in active magnetic bearing systems. A modified notch filter is presented to identify both constant and harmonic disturbances caused by sensor runout and mass unbalance. The proposed method can attenuate harmonic displacement and currents at the synchronous frequency and its integer multiples. The reduction of stability is a common problem in adaptive techniques because they alter the original closed-loop system. The main advantage of the proposed method is that it is possible to determine the stability margins of the system by few parameters.     Operation of transmission lines are usually limited by stability limits rather than thermal capacity limits. Thermal limit of transmission lines is a physical limitation of their components and not related with the overall power system characteristics, but stability limits are strictly related with power system characteristics.     Abstract
    In this paper a new method for measuring phase noise of microwave oscillators based on delay line frequency discriminator is proposed. Elimination of phase shifter is the major advantage of this technique over the traditional delay line technique. By using this new technique, manual or electronic tuning of phase shifter to reach phase quadrature at the phase detector input ports is not needed anymore. A 90-degree hybrid is used in this technique and another path including a phase detector and LNA is added.     Abstract
    Usually the digital phase shifters are used to steer the beam of a phased array antenna, and the accuracy of beam steering and other properties of the radiation pattern is dependent on the number of bits of the phase shifter and its resolution. In this paper the results of simulations, accomplished using a number of phase feeding methods in order to reduce the phase quantization error effects are presented and three new methods are introduced and compared with the previous works.     Abstract
    OFDM is a multicarrier modulation scheme with high bandwidth efficiency and robustness to multipath environment used in high data rate transmission. However, a drawback of this system is the large Peak-to-Average-Power Ratio (PAR) of the transmit signal which makes its straightforward implementation quite costly. PAR in an OFDM based system can be reduced significantly by PTS method for which data recovery requires side information (SI) about the phases used at transmitter. Sending SI, not only reduces the rate, but also increases BER, for any error in SI detection can damage a large amount of transmitted information.     Abstract
    Cascaded split-source inverter (CSSI) is a new single-stage modular multilevel topology. Each cell of this converter converts dc to ac power in the buck or boost operation mode without any additional power switch. This article develops a design method based on a detailed model for CSSI. This model shows that energy storage elements experience double-fundamental frequency ripples besides high-frequency ones. It accurately calculates voltage gains and capacitor voltage and inductor current ripples.
